Cleanup

  • This page could use a good cleanup, but I'm not sure of where and what to put into the template. Anyone have suggestions on what should be in the table, or how it should look like? --Seikas2 13:03, 15 December 2006 (PST)
  • Would probably depend on the subtype, no? Names, rarities and ingredients/quantities in any case at least. Synthing times/rates and (most) prices should be possible to calculate. Not sure what exactly you're referring to though; pages for db-like entries? Because really, it depends on how compact you'd want things to be. - Tycho 15:17, 15 December 2006 (PST)
  • Actually... now that I think about it, would it be a good idea to templatize all the Item Database pages, merge the Item and Synthesis Board templates and have some sort of switch to switch the output of the page?

E.g. On the Synth board page:

On the Sabers page:

On the Saber page (if still needed for old links):

#REDIRECT Template:Saber

On the Template:Saber page itself:

<includeonly>{{Item Template
enname=Saber
jpname=セイバー
ingr1=??? photon
ingr2=Acenaline
<!--Leave this lines past here alone-->
mode={all}<!--passing output info to template-->
}}</includeonly><noinclude>⇪ Click edit to change the info on this page!

PAGENAME</noinclude>

On the Template:Item Template page:

{{{#switch: {mode}
all=
old item template
synthinfo=
{enname } || {ingr1} || {ingr1amount}
itemstats=
...
}}}

It'll put all of the info on the same page to edit, but the number of template calls might be expensive. --Seikas2 10:49, 17 December 2006 (PST)

  • Personally, I think the main issue about this solution would be something else. Not only would we need to create two new pages for each new item (template and article), but moreover, this would make things a lot less inaccessble, and would thereby scare off people more easily as well. Sure, the idea is nice, but really, it probably isn't a viable option at least until the point where rather complete lists of item data are already available. x_x - Tycho 09:37, 17 December 2006 (PST)

Thought through playing, but since I don't know shit about wiki-coding, I'll put it here.

Number of uses in Story Mode

  • I should point out that it appears all Boards have only 1 use in Story Mode, but apart from that they all seem the same as Network Mode boards, at least for weaponry. Mewn 02:13, 5 September 2006 (PDT)
  • I think this goes only the weapons and armors. I think it's still more for Monomates and Ingredients at least. Tycho
  • It seems some boards vary from Story to Network. See [1]. beatrixkiddo
  • lol, beta info - Tycho

Booster boards

  • The materials for the stat-boosting consumables: Agtaride, Defbaride, Retaride, Zodiaride, and Megistalide - are incorrect. During the Phantasy Star Universe Open Beta on the Xbox 360, these required two(2) Hustle Berries, then one(1) Truffle of a different kind for each. Posted materials are incorrect!
    • This sort of comment belongs on a Talk page, not the main article itself. Mewn

Online/Offline separation?

  • So, offline required ingredients, synthesis times, prices, and the non-existant synthesis times are all different from online, and a lot of the Boards probably aren't even available. Does anyone have any preferences regarding how to solve this issue? Of course the tables could get more columns, but then again, merging the info is only barely useful, and could really impede reading convenience; especially since online there will probably be ten times as many Boards eventually. I'm kind of leaning towards making separate tables. Perhaps all on this page to stretch it even further, or perhaps on the respective pages of their synthesized counterparts. Opinions on this please? - Tycho 03:56, 29 October 2006 (PST)
    • I think online and offline tables should be in separate articles. The article will be big enough with just the online tables, and adding more columns will, as you put it, impede reading convenience. - Pottsdam 13:47, 10 November 2006 (PST)
    • Agreed with Pottsdam's suggestion. Typically a wiki would use a preceeding message at the start of both the article and the tables, stating "The stated data within this article is for Network Mode. for Story and Extra Mode information, see Synthesis Boards (Offline)." - Miraglyth 14:36, 10 November 2006 (PST)
    • Fair enough. - Tycho
    Edit: Since Seikas2's awesome synch, I really think this article is getting too long (I don't think mode separation is going to substract much, since it's currently pretty much aimed at Network mode). Would splitting up the content into the other category types be a good thing to do, or is this really more convenient? - Tycho

Success Rates

  • Shouldn't base success rates be added to these tables? - Segaholic2 10:53, 17 November 2006 (PST)
  • Yes, I should have done so before. DX I guess I didn't do so yet in case people would add 'influenced' numbers; I can't say I've looked much into the success rate influence factors either. While we're at it, the same goes for synthesis times. This page has some nice information, giving a nice start and giving a decent idea of how these times are calculated. In any case, if you could look into the issue, that'd be awesome. - Tycho 14:30, 17 November 2006 (PST)

what do you think?

we have the board icon Synthesis board and need the old pages no longer, right? so we can replace this page with:

Weapons
Type Striking Ranged TECHNIC
One-handed Sabers · Daggers · Claws · Whips · Slicers Handguns · Crossbows · Cards · Machineguns · RCSMs Wands · TCSMs
Two-handed Swords · Knuckles · Spears · Double sabers · Axes · Twin sabers · Twin daggers · Twin claws Rifles · Shotguns · Longbows · Grenades · Laser cannons · Twin handguns Rods

and delete

  1. Striking weapon boards
  2. Ranged weapon boards
  3. TECHNIC weapon boards
  4. Line shield boards

  • I've always thought these pages were more to lay out comparison in ingredients more than existence, although much of the info is missing or out of date. More simply, we could just say that the info can be found on the relevant Weapons or Line shields pages with either a link to or a dump of the Miscellaneous boards. It's probably even possible to disperse a lot of that info too. It just seems like something where people might just want to see a chart of all of it in one place. --S-T-H 20:48, 21 June 2009 (UTC)
