Weapons are a character's basic equipment, used to deal damage, inflict Status Effects, or to cast TECHNICS. There are 23 Weapon types in the game, which can be classified either by their basic function (Melee Weapons, Ranged Weapons and Casting Weapons), or by what hands they are used with (either by both, by the right hand or main hand, or by the left hand or off-hand). The following chart shows the distinct Weapon Types, according to their classifications.

Weapons
Type Striking Ranged TECHNIC
One-handed Sabers · Daggers · Claws · Whips · Slicers Handguns · Crossbows · Cards · Machineguns · RCSMs Wands · TCSMs
Two-handed Swords · Knuckles · Spears · Double sabers · Axes · Twin sabers · Twin daggers · Twin claws Rifles · Shotguns · Longbows · Grenades · Laser cannons · Twin handguns Rods

Weapon PP Recovery

Weapons regenerate PP every 5 seconds. The amount of PP is determined by the weapon type, the manufacturer, and the Type of the character holding the weapon. Recovery per 5 seconds is as follows, with non-favored class/favored class PP regen. Hunters, Wartechers, and Fortefighters are favored for melee weapons, Rangers, Guntechers, and Fortegunners are favored for Ranged weapons, and Forces, Guntechers, Wartechers, and Fortechers for Casting weapons. Current Figunner data is unclear and/or requires a better translation but they apparrently have unique percentages to the PP regen of both melee and ranged weapons. Protranser data is also incomplete.

Weapon Visuals

Within Weapon Types, generic weapons are visually most easily identified by their Manufacturer (see image below for details), and by their colors. The Photon-based components of the weapon gain their color based on their Elemental affiliation (neutral, Fire, Ice, Thunder, Earth, Dark, or Light), while the main color of the rest of their body indicates their Star Rarity (1★, 2★, 3★, 4★, 5★, or 6★).
