Phantasy Star Philosophy
PSO veterans deserve preferential treatment.
I've played PSO for GameCube since its inception, and I must admit that I am more than a little disappointed with the lack of fidelity to the original in this new iteration. Granted that XBOX Live makes for a much more pleasurable gaming environment with its integrated communication setup between players, the lack of reincarnated creatures and stages from the original (and the less-than-par quality of those that were) leave PSO veterans like myself with a half-happy heart, a hole left unfilled by the insensitive and (insert expletive here) masterminds of SEGA.
I mean, COME ONE... have all of you seen the re-incarnated "Dark Falz?"

Character Origins
My primary character in PSU is an attempt at a re-make of my beloved PSO Force character, both of which directly modeled after Sega's dreamdemon and my personal video-game diety, NiGHTS. Just to give you an idea of what he looked like, think Newman at shortest allowable height, with the purple-on-black wizard robe and trademark jester's cap. The equips I had, for what I can recall, went something like this:
Chao Staff
Luminous Circle
Tripolic Shield
Chao Mag
This combination made for the perfect union between cute charm and stunning visuals, as the twin Chaos (one residing on the edge of the staff, the other hovering over my shoulder) garnered many "awwwn"s and "oh how cute!"s to appear in floating text bubbles from party members as my tiny Chao let out its adorable battle cry, with respect to my TECHNIC attacks being unparalleled, the Chao on my weapons adding power to my offensive skills and "flying needles" to my buffs that made them last longer than anyone else's I had ever seen (legitimate, that is.)
Oh, how I miss my old Force. [sad]
Then there was my old Ranger.
Magna, although originally a human and not a CAST, also is a remake of my original PSO Ranger-class character and actually preced NiGHTS in his creation (and eventual level maxing.) All too often I reminisce on those early days when I just began my ventures on Ragol, being a maximum-height black-and-white golden-eyed Level 1 Ranger with a popgun and a dream... running through the initial gate in the Forest and encountering my first set of Boomas, letting off two or three or so rounds until they got too close, at which point I would flee back to the other side and wait for them to reset, only to do it all again.
I think I remember hie equips going something like this:
Hell Beam (I remember it being +35)
Stag Cutlery
That cool Ranger mag that looked like two big white guns floating over my shoulders
I dunno what it was with that guy, but him and "Hell"-class weapons just seemed to click. The regular attack always seemed to do sufficient damage, and I always had the best of luck with the special one-hit-kill attack that caused a black cloud of smoke to rise up from my feet.
