An image showing the maximum level for Ethan is 100.

One's Character Level (or just level for short) is a Character property that is unrelated to one's Class (unlike one's Class Level), and is based solely on one's Experience Points - obtained by killing Monsters. A higher level will result in higher base statistics, which in turn could make a character capable of wielding more powerful Weapons and Armors. Higher Mission Ranks have a Character Level requirement too. Certain other things, such as Blast Badges and SUV-Weapon Units also have their own Character Level requirements. The maximum level a character could ultimately attain (more colloquially, the 'level cap') is currently unknown. According to this interview[1] the initial cap for Network Mode will be 50 though. This will presumably be raised to 100 eventually, since this has been shown to be the cap in Story Mode (see image). All player characters start out at level one.
