***** Heh, it's a tough one, this. On 1~2 occasions it has been described as "Super holy light", though the rest have just been Chill announcements saying "level 3 luck" or similar. Either way, this is yet another instance where the website hasn't been true to game terminology. It really is Megaholy, but if you want to keep the reward description quotes accurate it needs to remain "Super holy light". Crazy, eh? - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 11:29, 8 April 2008 (CDT)

*** The time is variable according to jpwiki (they made a poll for that). But basically 100 gives 6->8 hours, 1k gives 8->10 hours, 10k gives 10->12 hours. You can get any luck with any price, and the most given luck is "1" (not 0). The rate is not known because most of the polls participants use 10k. I would fill it here but the problem is that these informations aren't accurate. [[User:Essen|Essen]] 12:41, 8 April 2008 (CDT)

Luck affecting elemental %

There's no proof of this at all, so I've reverted the article to before these edits were made. If this information is true, please produce some evidence of it, and by evidence I don't mean 'well I synthed a 50% weapon on a luck 3 day'. Thanks. Mewn 06:19, 21 January 2007 (CST)

  • I can do some experements for yah on this over the next few days. I hope it's true.Rydia 22:53, 3 April 2007 (BST)
    • Test concluded(kidna): The elements seems to be random. On Rydia, I got a 10% dark, and on Bliss, I got 28% Holy (I'm not on bliss so I forgot o.O). I'll run 2 more tests real fast.Rydia 05:28, 4 April 2007 (BST)
      • My last test is concluded. It's Purly random. Rydia had a 18% Holy, and Bliss had a 12% Holy. Rydia 05:52, 4 April 2007 (BST)
        • That's no way to be conclusive, unfortunately. What if Lv.0 luck had a 1% chance of synthing all elements from 10% to 44%, and a ~80% chance of synthing a 50%? Of course that's nigh-impossible, but your testing doesn't even disprove that. - Miraglyth 07:48, 4 April 2007 (BST)
      • ChinChu (Rydia's Pm) has a Mind lv 85 and nothing else. Bliss' Pm has 0 stats at all and the resolts came out rather spuratic. Also, Rydia's luck was +1 and Bliss had +0 luck. I'm just not seeing any kinda pattern here =\Rydia 09:10, 4 April 2007 (BST)
        • Point being that "not seeing a pattern" is as inconclusive as one person "seeing a pattern" by doing on synth on a Lv.3 day and getting a 50%. What the playerbase as a whole already knew is much suggestion that Photon Fortune and elemental strength are not related, but that doesn't mean "well I did four synths and look" is any kind of proof. - Miraglyth 18:49, 4 April 2007 (BST)
  • Fine.. I'll shut up >.> Rydia 20:24, 4 April 2007 (BST)

PM Luck?

  • Private Machinery Luck? Does such a thing exist? Today, my (Sword) PM has a Luck level of 3. Should we add on a new column for PMs?
  • Well, they do have it. Not even sure why, but anyway, they use the same Luck as female Casts. ^^; - Tycho
  • Does it effect synthesis rates? --Shadus 01:25, 27 November 2006 (PST)
  • No, PM luck is useless. - Tycho 04:06, 28 November 2006 (PST)

Stuff

  • That is awesome! They finally made luck into what is was always suposed to be! Ok, so basically, your character gets the same amount of luck for the whole day? That's nice :D Is it sure that it affects item synth and stuff like that?
  • From what I know, it doesn't affect synthesis. I'll add the grinding tables though. - Tycho
  • If I've heard correctly, PMs are always considered female Casts for the purposes of Luck. - Miraglyth 23:18, 20 November 2006 (PST)

Not-so-random item distribution?

  • This may or may not be false, but it's an idea that's flew into my head after doing

quite a few mission with one friend with item distribution on "set random." On many and many of those missions, the rare item picked up seems to have slight favor towards the player with higher luck level. On a few missions, my friend would would have luck level one, and I would have no luck, and if 3 rares appeared, he'd get 2 in a row. a couple quests, he got them all. This didn't seem to just favor him, as on a day where I had a luck level and he did not, I seemed to get most of the rares. This doesn't seem to be noticeable when playing with more members, like 4-6, as there are many more members for the rare to pick. I've noticed this only when playing with 2-3 members. Another interesting note, whenever I did get the rare item in a low-luck situation, it would often be a fairly common rare item, such as Kubara Wood, or a synth board for MoonX or Star Atomizer. Sorry if that was a bit too long, just an idea to throw out there. User: ~Teh

  • Interesting.. o_O; - Tycho 22:52, 23 November 2006 (PST)
  • ^Thanks for giving that a section, didn't mean to clutter up you page. >.>; Anyway yeah, this idea is something I'm going to eventually test, since it's obviousley recieved much speculation. ~Teh
  • Hm, the Japanese pages on Luck actually seem to deny this. I'm wondering how much Luck can affect the map variations (rare enemies) though. - Tycho 23:09, 26 November 2006 (PST)
  • the luck affecting random item distribution should be removed, in all honesty it's random, luck of the draw kind of thing. following the same idea, you'd think it would be more noticable on normal items set to random?

Universal Luck

  • It seems apparent that Luck is universal accross all shards - JP PC/PS2 Worlds 1 and 2, EN PC/PS2 and Xbox 360 all seem to have the same Luck as the others every day. This brings about two points of interest for this part of PSUPedia:
    • There was definitely known Luck on the 24th for the PC/PS2 servers which is currently unrecorded on this site. Using JP records it would be possible to "recover" these.
    • Considering JP's servers are 17 hours ahead of the EN servers, a "Tomorrow's Luck" section for PSUPedia becomes viable.
Thoughts on all this? - Miraglyth 17:46, 16 November 2006 (PST)
  • Oh crap, you're actually right. I hadn't looked into the issue anymore ever since due to mistakes the 10-25 entry was listed differently. Awesome stuff. - Tycho 00:07, 17 November 2006 (PST)
  • I'm in a bit of a hurry, but I've tried to adapt the templates. Satisfactory, or would it be better in a different way? - Tycho 00:45, 17 November 2006 (PST)
  • Lookin' fine. - Miraglyth 04:35, 17 November 2006 (PST)
Actually two things have just come to my attention:
The latter might be fixable at my end but for now it's somewhat annoying. - Miraglyth 04:42, 17 November 2006 (PST)
  • Okay, fixed. On a sidenote, anyone should be able to improve the templates, right? - Tycho 09:16, 17 November 2006 (PST)
  • Probably. But that assumes I knew how! The table itself contains no discernable formatting so - likely with the room decoration tables - it's something setting elsewhere I need to learn how to find. - Miraglyth 14:39, 17 November 2006 (PST)

Photon Fortune

no one who calls luck photon fortune. while yeah fortune is a loose translation of the word luck, and photons seem to be everywhere inside the fabric of the game, this translation terribly sucks. I hope whoever thought of this didn't pull it from a google translation, because thats more of a dictionary, not a translatior. Kind of like translating the "common cold" into "freezing commonly".

  • Regardless of whether it sucks or not, it's the official translation (taken from the manual, I caught it while glancing at it this morning), and takes it's place along with Vullseye and Moon Atomizer X and the rest. Mewn
    • For anyone who cares, my source - 'Also, a Photon Fortune icon will be displayed next to the text. It is said that there will be a divine protection of some sort, depending on the way it shines, and as it shines more brightly, higher effects can be expected.' - bottom of page 14 in the US manual. Mewn
      • thanks for explaining where it came from. makes more sense now i suppose. "who has photon fortune today?" you know, it just might catch on!
  • Added a note about the more popular term in the article. It's fine to stick with the old one, and the old page still redirects at least; formally we shouldn't really stay behind on official translations though. - Tycho 03:33, 3 December 2006 (PST)
  • While I don't mind that we're going with the "official" translation, there've been complaints that it's made the table on the Main Page that much wider. - Miraglyth 05:16, 3 December 2006 (PST)
    • I think the table looks nice. Would be funny to use the gifs instead of numbers, but that's more work then needed. (side note: Boy, the Photon Fortune really bit yesterday.)Rydia 07:36, 3 December 2006 (PST)
      • When did I say anything to do with gifs? Fact of the matter is that "About Luck" takes up more width than "About Photon Fortune" and as a result the entire table has become wider, which has caused some complaint. Resultantly I've removed the "About Photon Fortune" link and placed the link to the article in the header of the table. - Miraglyth 08:57, 3 December 2006 (PST)
        • I didn't say you was, I said it'd be funny, and kinda neat, but it's too much trouble to continusly update. Rydia 10:54, 3 December 2006 (PST)
          • Oh! Haha. My bad. Misread what you'd said. Actually with conditional formatting it could probably be done, but it'd probably be less useful than just giving the numbers. - Miraglyth 12:18, 3 December 2006 (PST)
        • heheh it's ok ^_^ I'm wondering.. Think the Log can be splint into months? After 1 month is done, branch into a new one. Would make load times a lil better then loading a 3 month page or bigger.Rydia 12:33, 3 December 2006 (PST)
          • Yeah, shouldn't be that hard. - Tycho 14:41, 3 December 2006 (PST)

Main Page boxes

  • I made two templates for the main page, so you can imagine if I were to put a Photon Fortune template below. I tried to fit the luck head on the top but then the boxes become smaller and they expand all the way to the right. Then I tried to make it like the other two, which failed. If I can get it to work, which I think I can with time, I'll need another template to put to the right of that and I have no idea what content we can put in there. For now I can make a new headline image for the Photon Fortune one, but I'm not sure if you guys want to keep the size that way; with the new main page we could aim for even bigger, because we need another fourth template for something. I would prefer it we keep the height of the headline as big as the ones for my templates, just to be consistent. Asim 08:28, 3 December 2006 (PST)

Crazy Statistics?

  • Just wondering if this is viable. I've been rattling off various Luck statistics in the IRC channel for a while now, so I figured it might be an idea to include such things here. Examples would include:
    • Longest Streak of Lv.0: FHu, 9 days.
    • Shortest Streak of Lv.0: MBe and FBe, 4 days (once), MCa, 4 days (twice).
    • Longest Streak of no Lv.3: MCa, 41 days (and counting. 41st day is 12/14/2006.) Recently broke MNe's 39 days.
    • Shortest Streak of no Lv.3: FNe, 11 days (and counting. 11th day is 12/14/2006.)
    • Currently been waiting longest for a Lv.3: MCa, since 11/03.
    Thoughts? - Miraglyth 00:34, 14 December 2006 (PST)
  • I dunno. Aren't the different pages and scripts on http://p.netgamers.jp/pf/ sufficient for research on the Luck patterns (which I personally believe are just random and will not be figured out in any way but by hacking the servers)? - Tycho 05:37, 14 December 2006 (PST)
  • Since when did I say this was for "finding out patterns"? I've always been convinced there'll never be a pattern to Photon Fortune. I just figured "interesting stats" just for the sake of it might be a good idea. - Miraglyth 15:41, 14 December 2006 (PST)
P.S. 8th day of Lv.0 for MNe tomorrow. Looks like we're gonna break the Lv.0 streak record.
  • Okay, go ahead. - Tycho 10:13, 15 December 2006 (PST)
  • Longest Streak of Lv.0 is now MBe, 12 days (12/28/06 - 01/08/07)
Whoever you are, Mr. Unsigned-Edit, you're wrong for the English servers because of the 31st of December bug. - Miraglyth 06:15, 21 January 2007 (CST)

Partner Character/PM Luck

I was doing the third PSU Episode 2 Mission, and Laia has 3-Star luck. Every enemy she hit, they dropped a Rod (Or, it could be all the sorcerors.) Now, she might not of hit everyone, but I suppose a monster hit by a partner character with high luck will drop rare goods. - The preceeding unsigned comment was added by Fletcher on 20:49, 10 March 2007 (BST).

Party vs. Leader Luck

I have found that through runs often times the luck of the leader does not make as much of a difference as the total luck of the party. Would someone please substantiate or refute this, cateloged evidence would be helpful. - The preceeding unsigned comment was added by Adamwan on 18:13, 3 April 2007 (BST).

  • Leader only. I'm sure the Bible guide thing said this, but I don't have it anywhere near me at the moment. In any case, this page says the same (bracketed comment from the red line). If the guide had not said so they wouldn't have left it there. - Tycho 06:27, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
    • Haha, imagine if the guide was made by certain English guide makers. Then there would be reasonable room for doubt! - Miraglyth 07:16, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
      • Sorry, I just don't have anything better, and your criticism is justified, but the only reason I see this as likely is that for things like this they just copied stuff straight from the book as well. >_< - Tycho 10:49, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
        • I wasn't making a criticism. There's no reasonable doubt the bible is accurate on this one. I was just making an off-topic joke :P - Miraglyth 11:29, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
    • Correct, it is from the Perfect Bible. Both versions, actually. (Over the weekend, I found myself referencing the first one on Photon Fortune and its effects to see if anything had changed between it and the release of AOTI. I think someone on one of the boards asked about it. Though now I don't recall if I ever answered the question for them. <_< Maybe someone else got to it before I could.) - EspioKaos 10:54, 8 April 2008 (CDT)

Casino and Luck?

I was playing in the casino the other day, w/ a luck of 0. Wasn't winning much at all. Today, I had a luck of 1 and was winning quite a bit more. I was wondering if anyone else noticed this. CSierra333 19:11(EST), April 7, 2008

  • Purely coincidence. --Qwerty 18:36, 7 April 2008 (CDT)

Raising Photon Fortune

There's no mention at all about how having your fortune told by the shrine maiden in Shitenkaku, Neudaiz, can raise your photon fortune. Should this be included in the article? I'm not too familiar on the mechanics of it, only that it's done once a day, and that it costs between 100, 1000, and 10000 to have your fortune read out. I had the 100 fortune read to me on my human male fighgunner who had no fortune today, and now he's got +1 fortune. Is it the more expensive fortune you have read out, the higher it's bumped? IceBlink 07:32, 8 April 2008 (CDT)

  • I believe the more expensive fortunes last longer, and do not affect your chances of higher luck. I may be wrong on that though. - Mewn 07:36, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
    • The time thing is well-known. 10k gets you 12 hours. iirc, 100 gets you 6 hours and 1k hasn't been conclusively timed yet. People have differing views on whether or not different options affect the probabilities of Mini/Mid/Super/Mega holy fortune so it wouldn't be accurate to say it either does or doesn't affect the odds until we know for sure. - Miraglyth 10:15, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
      • Wait, so three star Photon Fortune is called megaholy by the shrine lady? - EspioKaos 10:20, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
      • Yep, it's Midholy (1*), Superholy (2*) and Megaholy (3*). Considering they call 3* luck periods 'Super Holy Light' periods on the official site I find this quite funny. - Mewn 10:39, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
        • Exactly. I guess now I'll have to quit calling them superholy. I'm tempted to go back over the past updates and change all references of superholy reward periods to megaholy. <_<; Dammit... - EspioKaos 10:49, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
