Rare free missions are special missions that have a chance of appearing at random mission counters following the completion of another mission. Though difficult to find, the rewards of these missions make the search worth the effort.

Search tips

  • When searching for a rare free mission, it is helpful to have a full party of six players. The more players in a party, the higher the chances of a rare mission appearing.
  • Run any mission, on any difficulty you please. The difficulty played will have no effect on your chances of finding a rare mission.
  • There is no need to disband your party to search for a rare mission after clearing a normal mission. Only the current party leader will see a rare mission if it becomes available.
  • The higher the amount of time spent in a normal mission, the greater the probability of a rare mission appearing. However, a rare mission will not appear if less than five minutes are spent in a normal mission. Also, remaining in a mission for over thirty minutes will not increase the chances above the maximum probability of a rare mission appearing.
  • A player has to be in a mission for at least 80% of its completion time for their participation to count towards the chances of their party finding a rare mission.
  • When checking mission counters for a rare mission, you only need to check one counter. However, the counter you check must have at least one regular mission available.

  • Phantom Fissure
    • It has been confirmed that this rare mission does not appear at the mission counter in Shikon Islands, where Grove of Fanatics and Rainbow Beast are, even if the leader is tagged for it. If running missions there, you will need to check the other counter (Hill of Spores) for Phantom Fissure.
