Photon Fortune (星霊運 or 'seireiun', literally 'star - spirit - luck'), popularly just referred to as Luck (originating from fan translations), is an uncontrollable attribute through which randomized events and processes in the game are modified. Every day at 12:00 AM (JST for the Japanese servers, PST for the and English and xbox 360 ones), each of the eight possible race/gender combinations is assigned a value from zero to three (0 to 3), where zero is the most unlucky and three is the luckiest; these assignments are the same each day for all servers. Luck appears next to the character name, as seen in the images to the right.
Photon Fortune only affects Weapon Grinding, and odds for Monsters and Boxes to drop Items (in parties only the Luck of the leader is used). Partner Machineries have the same Luck as female Cast characters, but this isn't of any use.

Photon Fortune only affects Weapon Grinding, and odds for Monsters and Boxes to drop Items (in parties only the Luck of the leader is used).It also affects the porcentage of the element the weapons that is being synthesized will have. This means that if you have more luck you will end up with a higher porcentage of element in your weapon.
Note: The luck for the 31st of December is not the one said in the Photon Fortune, instead the luck of the 19th of December was used.
