Episode 1

Clyez City Second Floor: Shopping Mall A

  • Engineer

Chapter 2

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: Hey! You... You're a Guardian trainee, aren't you? Did you get your partner machine yet? Be careful you don't make the mistake of thinking CASTs and machines are the same! First off, there's the system nucleus. The "intellect" chips used are completely different. There are numerous restrictions placed on machines, especially when compared to CASTs!

(Again)

  • Engineer: I'm a machinery engineer. If there's ever anything you want to know about machines, please don't hesitate to ask!

Chapter 3

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: When the Synthesis Shop opens, you should look into synthesizing items. you can do that by using your partner machine. With just some raw materials and a board, your partner can manufacture items for you.

(Again)

  • Engineer: Your partner machine will undoubtedly be quite useful. There's simply no excuse not to learn about all it's functions and abilities!

Chapter 4

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: The Illegal modification of machines is a problem. Notably for the rogues, who like to upgrade the battle strength of their machines... There's a law that prohibits excessive armament of over-the-counter machines, because they'll become uncontrollable for the police and for the GUARDIANS.

(Again)

  • Engineer: But no matter how strict you make the law, I doubt you can prevent people from illegally modifying their machines!

Chapter 5

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: The biggest difference between CASTs and machines is CASTs are modeled after people and machines are not. Also, CAST intellect is furnished with the same emotions and consciousness that are found in humans. There's a law restricting the degree of intellect that can be added to machines... It's a comparatively small level. If I were to explain why, it could take a while... Suffice to say, machines would be entangled with the questions of ego and consciousness.

(Again)

  • Engineer: There is no question that CASTs have the same level of consciousness as humans. But you can't really say the same for machines. It's a tricky subject.

Chapter 6

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: CASTs may be made from artificial parts, but their existence is completely not totally unlike yours or mine. What I'm trying to say is, even though they're different, be careful not to discriminate. Even though they seem mostly fabricated with their artificial muscles and artificial cells...Like humans, a CASTs physical abilities can improve and be healed with monomates.

(Again)

  • Engineer: You got it? Be careful not to discriminate against CASTs.

Chapter 7

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: How's your partner machine's condition? That's right, I figured it was about time for its evolution. What is it? You look like you've got something else on your mind... How about we save this talk for next time?

(Again)

  • Engineer: What is it? You're in a hurry, aren't you?

Chapter 8

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: Partner machines were originally created to look after Guardians' personal belongings. Eventually they were given more practical support abilities. This is where the item creation function and battle functions came into play. Now, partner machines have the ability to evolve based on their Guardian owner.

(Again)

  • Engineer: I imagine your partner machine has already undergone a few changes of it's own, right?

Chapter 9

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: To say something more about machines, there are many types according to our various needs. There are more than just autonomous machines, such as military machines and partner machines, like yours. There are machines that control the navigation on spaceships and others that maintain our living environments. These machines are built to assist us and make our lives easier.

(Again)

  • Engineer: You, me, and everyone here, we are all being aided in our daily lives in ways we don't even notice by countless numbers of machines.

Chapter 10

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: Within the RELICS, there are soldier machines called Stateria. They are battle machines from the ancient civilization. There's no end to my interest in how they work and what they are capable of!

(Again)

  • Engineer: Stateria... I wonder if there's someplace I can research them?

Chapter 11

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: Some people argue that CASTs have no souls. But really, the boundary between artificial life forms and organic living creatures... Well, it's no so simple. All bodies are composed of a variety of internal organs which are just extremely precise machines. CASTs are able to reproduce these artificially, whereas others must rely on nature. Does having a soul equate to something occurring naturally? If this is the case, do incubator babies not have souls? Or what about people who have artificial limbs or replacement organs? It's something to think about.

(Again)

  • Engineer: The real question should be, "What is a soul?"

Chapter 12

(Engineer)

  • Engineer: We finally have peace! But then now I'm swamped with work repairing machines left and right... I guess that's still a lot better than being exposed to life-threatening danger...

-(Again)

  • Engineer: From now on I'm going to be really busy!
