SEED core

SEED cores are the pods which the SEED use to spread their infection across the Gurhal System. With each SEED attack, these cores fall to the surface of the planets and colonies, taking root wherever they land. Once rooted, SEED cores sprout a flower-like protective barrier known as a SEED-Blewme, making the core invulnerable to all attacks. The only way to get through this barrier is to destroy the smaller root-like SEED-Zoma which have sprouted in the vicinity of the core. Doing this will cause the Blewme to wither away, leaving the core vulnerable to normal attacks.
