Description

Status incapacitation.gif
This status effect overrides all other status effects, and no other status effect can overwrite it or apply alongside it.

Incapacitated enemies generally just disappear from the field, sometimes leaving behind Meseta or items. Some enemies (such as Rappies), after being incapacitated, will "get up" again and run away; during this animation, they cannot be hit or interacted with. A few enemies (such as Boomas) may fake being incapacitated by simply falling down (doing their death animation) and staying down for a time; during this fake incapacitated state, they cannot be damaged.

Incapacitated NPC allies will eventually (after about 20 seconds) revive on their own at full health.

For the PC in Solo mode, being Incapacitated (without a Scape Doll) will automatically abort the current mission and return the player to the host world; the mission must be started over from scratch if you wish to return to it.

For a PC in Multi mode, being Incapacitated (without a Scape Doll) will present you with an option to return to the city; otherwise you must wait for an ally to come by and revive you. If you choose "No", you can always press the accept button again to be presented with the same option of returning to the city. If you choose "Yes", you will be returned to the city, but the mission will still be running (even if you're the only PC); when you rejoin the mission, you will be at the beginning of the first block, but any progress you've made remains in effect, and you can use the crystal (provided you've activated others) to jump to later blocks. Do NPCs follow party leader/how exactly? What does it look like to another PC (not the party leader)?

Mission rank rewards

An NPC ally being incapacitated never counts against the final score for a mission.

In Solo mode, any mission during which the PC is Incapacitated is automatically aborted, so in Solo mode, the final mission score will always be at least 300 points.

In Multi mode, a PC being Incapacitated and returning to the city will deduct 300 points from the final mission score, up to 3 times. That is, at worst, 900 points will be deducted, resulting in -600 points for being incapacitated. This can even result in a negative total mission score.

Details

The status effect level (for weapons/bullets/TECHNICs) only affects the chance to instantaneously apply the Incapacitate status (effectively causing as much damage as the target has HP remaining); the SE Lv does not change the effect.

Is it at all possible (or plausible) to figure out the rate for different SE levels of Incapacitate?

Causes

Counters

  • TECHNICs: Giresta (cast at Lv11 or greater by an ally, or (theoretically) cast just before being Incapacitated)
  • Items: Moon Atomizer (used by an ally), Scape Doll
  • SUV Weapon Rapia Fluge?
  • (For NPC allies) Time
