The Invisible Sidebar

  • Yo, is the sidebar suddenly just not present for anyone else? Because it isn't loading at all for me, and I tried both monobook and default. The sidebar hasn't been edited in close to a year, but it is displaying the default mediawiki sidebar (main page, community portal, etc.). Any ideas what the deal is? --Qwerty 15:53, 10 June 2011 (EDT)
    • Not sure what happened, but I've known it to happen on rare occasions before. It always ends up reappearing not too long after its disappearance, though. - EspioKaos 16:11, 10 June 2011 (EDT)

The Firefox plug-in

  • I'm not sure if it was ever updated, but I updated the search plugin a while ago to use the new logo. I've dumped it here for the time being since I don't have FTP access to update it on the location linked by the sidebar. - Miraglyth 15:30, 30 March 2008 (CDT)

bea

  • Nah, I was trying to get it as a sub-bullet under Events, but apparently that doesn't work in the sidebar. Guess it's ok where you put it, though. --Qwerty 18:40, 22 April 2008 (CDT)

Search box

Can this please be placed in a more convenient location? It's really annoying to have to constantly scroll down to the bottom of the page to search for anything. If an admin needs a reference, see my page for a suggestion. —Feauce 12:36, 21 February 2009 (CST)

  • I agree that it is rather annoying. Unfortunately, we are unable to move the search box, as it is automatically placed below all other entries. --Qwerty 12:56, 21 February 2009 (CST)
If "* SEARCH" is placed in the Sidebar code, it will force it to a higher position. This is shown in the link from my previous post. —Feauce 22:41, 21 February 2009 (CST)
      • Didn't work, even with shift+f5. Reverting now. --beatrixkiddo 22:59, 21 February 2009 (CST)
      • Yeah, we've tried before, and that doesn't work. Maybe it does on other versions of MediaWiki, I dunno. I'll look into to it when I get time, but we'll have to deal with it for now. --Qwerty 01:07, 22 February 2009 (CST)
That was discovered easily enough. The site is currently running version 1.10, and in 1.13 that functionality was introduced (reference). So upgrading to the current MediaWiki version would solve that problem, assuming someone is still around that has access... —Feauce 13:19, 22 February 2009 (CST)
