Revision as of 21:35, 3 January 2008

To give thanks to our players at this time of winter festivity we would like to announce that starting on January 11th there will be special limited time event missions for Phantasy Star Universe.

The "Winter Event" missions are found at the GUARDIANS Headquarters on the GUARDIANS Colony Clyez City 5th Floor.

Event Mission Bonuses:

Item Drop rate is increased to 250%!

Experience is boosted as you go and reaches 350% at maximum!

Rare enemy encounter rate is much increased!

Number of Boss containers are doubled!

The Ambition of the Illuminus expansion is not required for these missions, all PSU users can play!

In addition to make up for the inconvenience of the December 15th server rollback we will have Super Holy Light weeks for all races from Jan. 11 2008 to Feb. 1 2008.

Additional content updates for 1/11 and more details for the event schedule will be announced next week.[1]

Event overview

The Winter Event is a server-wide event beginning on January 11th. At the writing of this article, only the above information is known. However, it is almost certain that this event will mimic the Japanese "PSU 1st Anniversary Thanks Festa" event that was held in September 2007. Assuming this is true, there will be two event missions, both of which will start in the GUARDIANS Headquarters on the 5th floor of Clyez City. The Winter Event will likely last for three weeks, with one mission each for the first two weeks, then both concurrently available for the third.

Mission overview

There are two missions as part of this event: (Guardians' Road α) and (Guardians' Road ß). During the first week, only Alpha (α) will be available, and that will be switched out for Beta (ß) in week two. Both missions will be available in the third week.

The missions are VR simulations created from popular areas of PSU up to September 2007, including areas from Operation Firebreak and the 1UP Platinum Cup events, as well as blocks from Story Missions, Free Missions and Party Missions. Some of the blocks have been slightly changed to add more monsters or buttons to unlock chips, and monster levels are based solely on the rank of the Festa mission and not on the mission they were taken from! Because this event took place on the Japanese servers just before the Japanese release of Ambition of the Illuminus, it contains no content that is not accessible using the regular version of PSU.

The objective of the Festa missions is to collect chips (in a similar manner to the 1UP missions) scattered throughout the levels. Both missions have a choice of two routes to take, and each route has 10 possible chips. The chip score you get directly affects your rank. In addition, there will be a notice on the right of the screen with up to five stars depending on the area you are in. This is the EXP boost of that area.

★☆☆☆☆ 150% EXP
★★☆☆☆ 200% EXP
★★★☆☆ 250% EXP
★★★★☆ 300% EXP
★★★★★ 350% EXP

Missions start off with 200% EXP. The highest EXP boosts can only be found if you get a rare map.

As an additional twist somewhat similar to Phantasy Star Online's VR mission Towards the Future, all Festa missions have two bosses in quick succession, with double boss drops at the end of the second boss. Note that if you get a rare map, you will fight both forms of Dulk Fakis, which are considered seperate bosses.
