Here I will be reviewing photon arts. The guide on psupedia gives hits, %s and who it's useable by, but there are some key properties in a photon art that are not written down anywhere (that I am familiar with). Therefor, I have taken it upon myself to write this guide, and give a deeper understanding of different PA's.

Note that the grading here is a bit subjective for the moment, a I have not yet gone through the trouble of actually timing PA's and whatnot. I'll be doing most things from memory, also. Therefor, if there are any inaccuracies, please do note them. However, if there is critique on the grades I give PA's in the different fields, you might be so kind as to keep them to yourself.

Yo de boys.

So, I find it kinda weird to make a page about one's self. Kinda comes over egocentric, no matter what you say. But, since we're here now, it's vacation and got nothing to do... heck, I got time. So, a bit of info about me then, relating to PSU.

Notes: This literary work is written on a morning, and if it's one thing I'm not then it's a morning person. Therefor, it might contain innacuracies, both spelling- and contentwise. Keep that in mind when reading.

History: I bought PSO for my birthday the year it was launched on gamecube. I had not realised it then, but I actually died that day. Well, or i could have, since my life went down the drain with that game XD. I kept playing it, on the sega servers and was lucky enough to never corrupt. Playing on those servers did kill one cube of mine, but any pso player knows that's nothign to stop him/her. Then, the schthack servers came. It was like the jews finding the holy land. it was everything the sega servers lacked. I had a very good time there, too, although the players seemed a bit more childish there (is that even possible?). For some reason I had gotten it in my head to make a quest (must've thought i had too much life...), and so i did (A new hope). Against my will I then made it multiplayer (The military strikes back). After that a lot of my oldest PSO friends began to quit (not related, i hope). So, in the end, I decided to quit too, besies, PSU had come out. I played a little, but never cared much for the restrained content, so i quit, until later, AOI came out. I pirated (arrrrr, sorry had to say that) the game, since i had already payed for the first and believe that's enough. Since then, i've been having good fun with it. Even found many friends back. Yes, sega still can't tell customer support from a standard help form, and they really need to invest in a coffee not allowed plaque for the server room, but, the game is fun, no matter how you twist it, so, i'll be playing that.

The "A New Hope" legend: I am both proud and ashamed of this achievement. Weird but, hear me out. I made this quest because I had always thought that PSO had so much to offer, but sega rarely took it down every path. As an example, the never really got into the story-telling. And I like games with good stories (final fantasy, fire emblem, psu,...). So i decided to make a quest which tells a story of the like never before seen in PSO. I also wanted the quest to contain good rewards, be difficult, and have good enemy placement. Lastly, i wanted it to contain humor. I did not succeed on all the domains, mainly because toward the end i got really tired of quest making, and kinda rushed it. However, to each department... Story i felt was pretty good, although in hindsight I wish I had used better telling, and a lot less of the stupid crude jokes. Ah well, let's blame it on youth, shall we? live and learn. In the next quest I was making, it would be totally different, but I gave up on that one, so meh... rewards: In my honest opinion, pso was nearing the end of it's lifespan. A lot of items were never released (like red ring, or pgf), and i thougth it was about blooming time. So I made them rewards. And I think the quest was hard enough to provide a buffer for those rewards. No matter what any elitist thinks. The quest WAS difficult, and anyone saying it wasn't, i'm sorry, but you need to get over yourself. enemy placement: well, it wasn't too bad, but try making innovative waves with 760somewhat enemies. Not possible. Not every single one. Imho, a lot of them are quite decently thought out, so there. Humor: yeah, in real life I have quite rude humor, but there you can see from my mimic, that it's a joke. I was nto able to transfer that to pso. Therefor the humor seem bourish and stupid. In hindsight, i'd have done it differently. The temple then. I loved them endless nightmare quests, and I wanted a part of my quest to be nothign but slaughter. But to not making it obligatory. So i made temple a sidequest. And boy, is it slaughter. A lot of people don't get that it was never meant as obligatory, and the actual true point of the quest started with seaside. But, not much I can do about that. When it was transferred to BB format, i heard it contained a lot of bugs. can't really help that, as I've stopped doing it, and never even played BB. Some thigns don't work there, or dont look as they are supposed to, but I have no idea what. Someone is apparently working on it though (Lee). Kudos to him. Must be a bitch trying to understand my horrible coding. To this day I still get comments for the quest. Both positive and negative. I feel very honored about the laurations and all, and I thank anyone who took the time to play the quest. I also recieved a lot of critique from the minority, but in pso, the minority has a really weird way of standing out. Without trying to go to deep into it or provoke, I'll just say that what I usually say: "If you don't like it, do it yourself". And unless you did, you have to right to criticise. I do realise that I kinda whored my name in this quest, and sometimes tried to shoot for immortality, but i'd like to blame that on youthful ignorance. Again, this is one thing i'd definately have done different. So, love me or hate me (and i know there's a few since I am quite the asshole), it's up to you.

About me: - Born 20/8/1986 <- do not read the yankee way - I have a certain intolerance for the yankees, not for the americans. So don't get me wrong on that one. - I like canadians, on the other hand. - I'm funny. People can just never really tell when i'm joking. Which makes me look like an asshole, since i usually target people. My humor is brutal, I can't help it. - I have a very sick mind. This results in gruesome nightmares. Therefor, i am no mornign person. - IQ is 130-140. I am however socially handicapped, and have too high standards. I have low self-esteem, but am vain. It's a weird combination, but self-awareness is good, right? - I sometimes get very dark (see previous line). - I am rude to anything or one that annoys me, i'd walk through fire for anythign or anyone else. I dunno why. I like helping people. Just not the ones that annoy me. - i'm a cat-person. get your dog out of my face. - I'm belgian, and the drinking age is 16. Hence, I like beer. And we got the best beer. - I study chemics, in the hope of one day inventing a bomb that can destroy the solar system. Other then that, I like organic chemistry. - I suck at making lists.

Photon Art Reviews

Each of the PA's I reviewed I have personally trained to lv40, so I know what I'm talking about.

Grading system: In each category the PA can score up to 10 points, and in te end they get a grade out of 100%. if i find the PA to be the best of all PA's in that category, it will get 15/10, and thus, 5 bonuspoints. The categories are the following:

  • Damage over time: The amount of damage a PA can rack up over time. This holds into account the amount of targets it can hit, and the PA's accuracy multiplier. It also takes into account how fast the PA does so. This gives an idea of the damage efficiëncy of the PA.
  • Damage over PP: The amount of damage a PA can do in reflection to the PP cost, and thus also the targets it hits. This gives an idea of the brute force of the PA.
  • Just Attack: How easy this is to just attack (a big time window for the JA), or if this PA gives a significant drop in any other field, if the JA is used.
  • Defensive ability: How easy it is to get hit while using this PA; basically, if the PA leaves you open for enemy attacks. This gives an idea on if the PA is agressive (and attacks constantly), or if there are some thwirly moves, which are a waste of time.
  • Flexibility: How flexible the PA is. Some PA's can be steered while they are executing, in different degrees. Some PA's move you quite some distances over the battlefield. Some PA's are even so flexible, that you can avoid enemy attacks with them. This gives an idea on how much the PA can move the person over the battlefield. An important property, as this may be used to avoid enemy attacks, while attacking yourself, or if the enemy suddenly moves from his position, still move so that you still hit it.
  • Tactical prowess: How the combo of the attack takes into account it's previous moves, and builds up momentum. It holds into account properties like wipeout, launch, blowaway. (eg if you first launch and then blowaway, that is good, if you first blowaway, and then launch, that is not good)
  • Team play: How much the team will appreciate this PA.
  • Level speed: How fast it levels.
  • Obtainability: How easily the PA is obtainable.
  • Style: How badass or funny the PA is. Hey. This is a critical issue.
