Maximum Attack X is an event for the Xbox 360 servers which began September 9, 2011, and is scheduled to run through October 20, 2011. The equivalent Japanese PC/PS2 version (also known as Maximum Attack Cross, referencing the multi-game crossover the event featured) began April 22, 2010, and ran through May 20, 2010.

An unusual device left behind by the Ancients was discovered during a cooperative RELICS investigation by Inhelt Corporation and the GUARDIANS. Known as "Arc," this device is a self-evolving program which adapts based on data input. Following additional research, it was discovered that Arc may be capable of simulating the process used by the Ancients to overcome the damage caused by SEED contamination. Having witnessed firsthand the suffering of Gurhal caused by the SEED, the GUARDIANS have launched an operation to collect data for Arc, hoping to lead Gurhal to a brighter future!

Event overview

Xbox 360 version

The Xbox 360 version of Maximum Attack X focuses on the number of Arc data chips collected in the event missions. This quantity is totaled on the official event and goes toward unlocking panels with rewards for both during and after the event ends. Overall data chip collection is also used to determine the attribute rate of three weapons which will be distributed after the event ends. Each weapon has a maximum attribute rate of 50%, but that can be achieved only if the data chip target for each weapon is reached in the two week period allowed!

Japanese PC/PS2 version

The Japanese version of Maximum Attack X was the first event of its kind to feature a multi-game crossover. Running alongside the PC/PS2 Ambition of the Illuminus version of the event was a version made specifically for Phantasy Star Portable 2 on the PSP. In the PC/PS2 event, players collected data chips, special information packets used by Arc to simulate potential scenarios of Gurhal's future. The total number of chips collected was recorded on the official event site and used to unlock panels which featured rewards for both during and after the event.

In the PSP version of Maximum Attack X, overall enemy kills were recorded on the official event site. These kills were totaled with the PC/PS2 version's data chip collection to go toward earning increased attribute rates for four weapons which were awarded to event participants. The PC/PS2 weapons had a maximum potential attribute rate of 50% while the PSP versions were able to earn an additional 30% (for a total attribute rate of 80%) by reaching separate monster kill milestones.
