EX Devices are used to further evolve a Partner machine into various forms that have differing combat abilities. Once an EX Device is purchased from the Clyez City Variety Shop, they can be used by feeding them to your Partner machine just like any other item.

The two main requirements for using a particular EX Device are

  • The Partner machine must be evolved to level 80 or higher, and have given you its partner card.
  • The Partner machine must have a sufficiently high B St. This attribute can be raised by completing missions with your partner machine. The higher grade you get for completing the mission, the more the B St increases.

EX Devices should not be confused with PM Devices, whose requirements are based on your PM's model number but are independent of B St.

EX Devices do not affect synthing attributes or abilities in any way. It is possible with an EX Device to obtain a very wide variety of combat models without sacrificing "pure" synthing ability.
