Character customization

As with PSO, character creation plays in important part in creating the character which is perfect for you. The depth of the creation is vast, and you can make anything from a gigantic war machine to a tiny elf girl.

Comparison

Phantasy Star Online had an advanced character creator for it's time, and it is still advanced as RPGs go. However compared to PSU it seems limited. With PSU you can change all your facial features instead of just choosing a face, e.g. eye color, eyebrows, facial hair etc.

Features of humanoid creation

PSU first asks you which race you would like to be. The choices are Human, Newman, Cast and Beast.

• The first option on the list is face. Whereas males have more facial choice, this is only because they can also have beards. You can also move a slider at the bottom of the screen to change the face shape e.g. fatter, thinner, broader chin etc.

• The second decision is pupil size. Change the size of the pupils. For Beasts, they can have either human pupils or cat pupils. There is also a slider to change to color of the iris, the choice of color is about 3.6 billion, so choose wisely.

• The third option is eyebrows. Change the shape of the eyebrows from bushy to angry etc.

• The fourth option is eyeliner. There is also a no eyeliner option.

• The fifth option is ear yaw. Change how the ears appear. For Humans, the ears are either flat or stick out. For Newmans, you can change the yaw to horizontal, back and 45 degree. Beasts can have fluffy ears, droopy ears and sticky out fluffy ears.

• The sixth option is hair. Change the hair style. There is also a slider to change its color.

• The seventh option is underwear. Change the color. Only about 5 choices here.

• The eigth option is skin tone. Change your character from super light to super dark.

• The ninth option is character height. Make them really small or really tall. There is also a slider to change their weight.

• The next screen allows you to change all your characters clothes.

After this screen you can also change your character's name. You can also change your character's voice, for when he gets hit etc.
