Operation Firebreak (event)
Operation Firebreak is a special event which ran from May 25, 2007, through June 28, 2007. Following a massive fire SEED assault on Gurhal, the GUARDIANS set into action a plan to purify the contamination that had spread across Parum, Neudaiz and Moatoob.
As players purified SEED cores and cleared event missions, purification points were tallied on the official event site. These points were used to determine what rewards players would receive following the end of Operation Firebreak. Furthermore, each mission offered boosted EXP payout, and Ban-photons collected during play could be exchanged for numerous event-exclusive items.

Event overview
The objective of each of the main event missions (excluding Scorched Valley) was to purify the SEED cores which had rooted across different areas of Gurhal. Two tools that were integral to this process were the Photon Eraser and Goggles. The former was issued at the beginning of each event mission, while the latter could be received from the event's prologue mission had they not be obtained from the story mission The Mask 1. In order to purify the SEED cores, you first had to use your Goggles to locate the SEED Zoma which surrounded each core. Once revealed, these pods became vulnerable to the effects of the Photon Eraser, and after each Zoma attached to a core had been purified, the core itself lost its protective barrier and could be destroyed with normal attacks. In some missions, certain cores would be powered by larger pods called Go Zoma. Each Go Zoma required at least three players firing their Photon Erasers at it simultaneously to successfully purify it.

Event rewards
As Operation Firebreak progressed, purification points were tallied on the official event site. These points were recorded as an overall total and on a by-planet basis; this information was then used to determine the rewards to be issued to players following the end of the event.
Purification point rewards
The overall purification point tally was used to determine the duration of a megaholy Photon Fortune period for all players. It also unlocked the ability to receive a unique weapon exclusive to Operation Firebreak. Total purification points at the close of the event were 90,217,935, so all of the following rewards were unlocked.
Purification points | Rewards |
---|---|
10,000,000 pts. | One day of megaholy Photon Fortune for all races. |
20,000,000 pts. | Two days of megaholy Photon Fortune for all races. |
30,000,000 pts. | Three days of megaholy Photon Fortune for all races. |

Purification point rewards by planet
Clothes and parts discounts were awarded per planet based on how well each planet was purified of fire SEED contamination. In the charts below, the total purification points earned for each planet will be displayed in the table header, while all cells which are grayed out represent rewards that were not reached.

Differences between versions
- In the Japanese PC/PS2 version of Operation Firebreak, all free missions were removed from the mission counters across Parum, Neudaiz and Moatoob, making only the event missions available for play. In the local version of this event, all free missions remained available.
- The Japanese version of Firebreak Trade offered two unique items for players who accessed the exchange mission from an officially sponsored netcafé. These two items, Real Hand Gun and Hand Spear, were not available in the English version of the event.
