Phantasy Star Portable 2 is the as-yet unannounced sequel to Phantasy Star Portable. Its existence became known through information on a bonus UMD to be included with a best-seller's rerelease of the original game, which states that the opening movie for Phantasy Star Portable 2 will be included. Confirmation that it was SEGA's 'New RPG' to be revealed on August 20th appeared when magazine scans from Famitsu appeared on the internet.
Few details are known about this game right now, except that it is due for release in Japan in Winter 2009/2010, and will again be exclusive to the Sony PSP. Currently this is known:
- The game takes place three years after the SEED incident.
- It seems that save data from the original game will be able to be transferred to PSP2. However, details on how this will work are unknown.
- Two NPCs are known - the human girl Amelia Percival (エミリア・パーシバル) and the beast boy Yoot (ユート).
- At least one new area (a RELICS site) will be added to the game.
