XD But, I'm really hoping you're right and that the ruins is the 35 million prize. We're almost there, and I'm itching to go back to the place.
=== Rotational item status ===

* I'd meant to check this when home over the weekend - is it still the Goth series that's available? It'd have been around for 1.5 months if that were the case. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 08:13, 27 February 2008 (CST)
** I've been meaning to check, too, but I never remember to do it whenever I go to Voloyal. I always grab my silver and run. If no one else does it before I get home from work, I'll try to remember to check. I'm sure the set has changed by now. - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 09:28, 27 February 2008 (CST)
*** Come to think of it, I know it was Berry/Sweet (why couldn't they have kept that consistent?) when I got my CAS-oyal Set. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 09:40, 27 February 2008 (CST)
**** Cool; I've updated accordingly. Also fixed a copy-pasta error I noticed. <_<; By the way, do we really want to keep up with the dates of availability for these sets? I mean, they really don't serve much of a purpose that I can see (aside from random historical reference). Maybe it'd be better to identify them as rotation set 1, set 2, etc., since they seem to rotate in the same order. (And agreed on the Sweet/Berry thing. I was a little surprised that the names were changed to those when they were known originally as the Romance series in Japan.) - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 10:03, 27 February 2008 (CST)
***** We don't really need to keep up with the dates, no. I'd included those as a record of when we got what so we could determine the order, and I'd done that before the order was known. We know it now, so simply stating A -> B -> C -> A should suffice, perhaps also noting which is active at the time (I'm not fond of constantly updating the main reward table every other week, as that's clearly not working). On another note, I can kinda agree about the renaming overall. The goods seem too childish/tacky to be considered remotely romantic, after all. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 06:43, 28 February 2008 (CST)
* Yeah, I've kind of questioned the necessity of us keeping up with which set is available and which of them aren't. It was a good idea at first, but now I'm leaning more toward it adding more work than it's worth. For the time being, though, I've updated the table with what I noticed this morning when I got my coin before work: the Modern series is back in. - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 12:52, 28 February 2008 (CST)

=== Idea ===
* Just a minor suggestion, but what would everyone think about the possibility of using a "grayed-out" background color for items that have been available at one time but have since been rotated out? --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 00:12, 13 December 2007 (CST)
* Might be good. I'd also like to see a "Rotation" section that divides sets of items into the time period they were available in. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 01:44, 13 December 2007 (CST)
** I like the grayed-out cell idea. I know of some others places something like that could be put to use, too. With the rotation of items, I could either section off the table we have now with each period's items, or just make brand new tables for each period. Which do you guys think would work/look better? - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 10:15, 13 December 2007 (CST)
** OK, I set up a light gray template for this purpose (<code><nowiki>{{Rotational item}}</nowiki></code>). And since the Modern series should be rotated out tomorrow, I've gone ahead and used this template on those so we can see how it looks. - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 11:55, 13 December 2007 (CST)

== Music discs ==

Would it be at all proper to add samples of the PSU Discs to their respective item pages? People are always asking for some place where they can listen to the music before they buy it. Just a thought. [[User:Sekani|Sekani]] 22:12, 10 January 2008 (CST)
* I love the idea, however a large number of music files (even short clips) would put a pretty nice load on the server after a while. I'm not certain how we stand as far as bandwidth consumption and space, though, so I should leave it up to someone who knows for sure. - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 22:20, 10 January 2008 (CST)
* I'm not sure about bandwidth issues, but I doubt it would be a problem, assuming we only used short (like 10-15 seconds) snippets. While we're on the subject, what audio files are even supported on a wiki for upload? The upload page shows .ogg in an example, so I suppose I could use Audacity to export some short Ogg Vorbis snippets of the tracks I have. Not for a while, though, busy with schoolwork at the moment. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 22:28, 10 January 2008 (CST)
* On bandwidth: they don't necessarily have to be uploaded to this server (or do they?), and low bit rate MP3s (32kbps) should be good enough for sampling purposes without causing too much server load. [[User:Sekani|Sekani]] 22:36, 10 January 2008 (CST)
* Well, we could use external links, I suppose, but they have to be uploaded somewhere. If uploading them in the wiki framework is the problem, then anyone with FTP access could just dump them in a different directory. Come to think of it, I've had two whole .mp3s in [http://psupedia.info/qwerty my directory] for quite some time, and no one has ever said anything about it causing bandwidth issues. Of course, they probably aren't accessed too frequently. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 22:39, 10 January 2008 (CST)
* Just tried to upload [http://psupedia.info/qwerty/sample.ogg this] to test it out, and it's telling me that the only allowed file types are png, gif, and jpg. However, don't see why we couldn't just create a separate directory (psupedia.info/audio?) for linking short snippets of tracks. Also: whoops, guess in-browser media players don't support .ogg, duh. At any rate, [http://psupedia.info/qwerty/sample.mp3 mp3s] will work just as well; better really, for size. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 23:21, 11 January 2008 (CST)
* I wouldn't think this to be a good idea without Hitomi's approval. Until then, it's probably a better idea to use an external source. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 14:15, 12 January 2008 (CST)
** In the meantime, if anyone can [mailto:sekani2@gmail.com e-mail] me some samples, I can provide the [http://www.sekani2.com/psu/ external source], at least until the site admins decide to enable audio uploads. - [[User:Sekani|Sekani]] 17:07, 12 January 2008 (CST)
*** On that note, I probably could enable it (if it can be enabled at all), I just don't know how. I honestly doubt Hitomi would mind us uploading them to a directory here, but I guess it couldn't hurt to ask. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 18:28, 12 January 2008 (CST)
* And it is done; check the additions to the various PSU Disc pages. The only ones I don't have on my PC at the moment are [[PSU Disc 69]], [[FTM Disc]], and [[NIGHTS Disc]]. - [[User:Sekani|Sekani]] 08:59, 13 January 2008 (CST)
** Awesome, thanks. If I get time tonight (don't think I will though), I can try to dig out the rest of the files. Alternatively, I can just play the songs in-game and have Audacity record the output. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 12:44, 13 January 2008 (CST)
*** I actually have an audio rip of the entire game, including every piece of music that is, ever was, and ever will be (wait, isn't that a quote from somewhere?) in the game. Let me know what format/length you'd like some sample songs to be and I can provide links to my own webspace.<br/><br/>Also, does the wiki support flash? Maybe we can upload a SWF file to act as a music player per song. I'm sure someone's done it before and all that needs to be added is the title and the actual audio portion.<br/>--[[User:Kietrinia|Kit]] 09:55, 19 January 2008 (CST)
* I know this is old and hardly important, but I recently came across a couple wiki extensions (primarily [http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:FlashMP3 this one]) that can imbed audio files within the page itself. Anyone think it would be worth looking into installing this? --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 13:26, 3 February 2008 (CST)
** I think it'd be worth looking into. Having an actual media player embedded on the disc pages would look pretty nice, I think. - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 14:04, 3 February 2008 (CST)
*** Any way we can see what it looks like? -[[User:Sekani|Sekani]] 14:21, 3 February 2008 (CST)
**** I tried, but I was unable to find any images. Only way would be to install it, and I'm hesitant about messing with the code of those files. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 14:26, 3 February 2008 (CST)
== Rollover time ==

I've changed the page to list the rollover time for new coins in GMT. While "Pacific Time" is likely fine for most residents of America, I for one do not know, nor do I give two ****s about, American timezones. GMT, by comparison, is a basic standard. All other timezones are defined relative to GMT, so if somebody doesn't know what their timezone is relative to GMT, they can easily find out. Finding out what your timezone is relative to Pacific Time, by comparison, can be an exercise in frustration. [[User:DaWrecka|DaWrecka]] 10:32, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
* PST is GMT-8, duh. If you're a European playing an American online game, you should kinda know this stuff. XP - [[User:Tycho|Tycho]] 10:59, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
** Kinda the point, heh. It's GMT-8, not PST+0. That said, we need to hurry up and adopt UTC. Far less confusing a base point for conversion. In any case, a "insert time to get other time" calculator will likely see poor use the same way people fail to correctly convert timezones at the moment. To be honest, your best bet for being idiot-proof is some kind of Voloyal clock page as that would leave almost no room for the user to mess up. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 11:24, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
*** Erk. I just changed it back to PST/PDT to go by the game server time. I included a new converter link that notes daylight saving/summer time observance. Universal time might be good to go by, so feel free to make alterations as you see fit. As I noted in my latest edit note thinger, no matter what we go with, we'll always have some people who simply won't be happy with it. - [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 11:35, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
**** tbh I agree that if any time needs putting in the article it may as well be that of the server for accuracy. That said, this coming weekend I'll look at making a "Casino Clock" page since I do believe one that forces the user to know when the coin changes will prevent them making a mistake. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 11:43, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
* Inconsistencies in Daylight Savings Time observance make GMT a bad choice for universal time; the calculations will be off for roughly three weeks twice a year. Right now, for example, San Francisco is ''seven'' hours behind GMT instead of the usual eight. - [[User:Sekani|Sekani]] 14:46, 8 April 2008 (CDT)
* Why don't we just list it as Midnight GMT and have people convert it themselves? Or, if you want to list it on PDT, and GMT isn't on Daylight saving time, the correct time is 5pm PDT. Thats why I changed it the first time.--[[User:Sasamichan|Sasamichan]] 17:17, 8 April 2008 (CDT)

== Rotation goods ==
There are three sets of items which rotate in and out of circulation at Casino Voloyal. Generally, these sets will remain available for a period of two weeks (though longer periods of availability have occurred), and then be replaced by the next set in the rotation schedule. The following tables list each set of items.

==== AoI Specific Drops ====
* Do they have any AoI only drops like their previous counterpart?--[[User:Sasamichan|Sasamichan]] 02:55, 1 April 2008 (CDT)

==== Serafi Feather LV ====
* Doesn't the Serafi-Feather only drop "mid-level" (40~80) ? - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 22:14, 31 March 2007 (BST)
** Nope, it is a "special drop" (meaning all levels). The other two special drops are Rappy Feather and Easter Egg. The "mid-level" drop is the board for Rabol Rappy. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 22:26, 31 March 2007 (BST)
*** Hmm, I'm sure I've seen in the past that "level" drops can contain multiple items in the same level range. Oh well. Fixed it on the [[Drops]] page. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 22:47, 31 March 2007 (BST)<br>'''Edit:''' I have! According to the JP wiki, the Gaozoran Rod (synth material) drops only from LV20-29 Gaozoran, and so does the Rayharod! - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 22:48, 31 March 2007 (BST)
**** Regardless, Serafi Feather has been confirmed to drop from Rappy Paskas even on Linear Line C, so it must be a special drop --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 06:16, 1 April 2007 (BST)
**** Yeah, I've seen so myself upon further investigation. I'd meant to mention it here. ¬_¬ - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 07:28, 1 April 2007 (BST)
*** JP-Wiki doesn't seem to take into account the different types of drops, though. Gaozoran Rod is a special drop and can drop from any level Gaozoran, although I would assume higher levels have higher droprates. Rayharod is a normal levelled drop, though. [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 01:49, 1 April 2007 (BST)
**** It does specifically say "20-29" though, so they're wrong on that one? Seems like a pretty huge mistake. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 03:43, 1 April 2007 (BST)
***** I would imagine (and this is just an educated guess) that the only confirmed drop of the material was in that level range, so that may be why it is listed thusly. With the exception of Deljaban Blade (for obvious reasons), all other currently available monster-parts used in weapon synthesis (e.g. Vahra Nail, Inverter Circuit, whatever the Carriguine Blade is called, etc.) seem to be non-level-dependant special drops. Again, this is all conjecture, but the simplest solution is often the most correct. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 06:16, 1 April 2007 (BST)
***** Indeed, Occam's Razor. I'll point out as well that JP-Wiki, while a good resource, is neither 100% accurate nor 100% complete. Much like this site, heh. [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 11:27, 1 April 2007 (BST)

As ''Phantasy Star Universe'''s Network Mode is essentially a massively multi-player online RPG (MMORPG), it's not hugely surprising that from time to time it shall receive game updates and content additions.

This page is to list the state of the game's Network Mode as of specific dates, and record the history of what each update achieved. As the game grows in the number of updates (hence, the amount of content) it may become necessary to split details of each update (or each month's worth of) into separate sub-articles.

All times specified within this article are PST, to match the various times used and specified on the [http://phantasystaruniverse.com/index.php ''Phantasy Star Universe'' website].

==Initial State==

Unlike the other sections, this one makes note of how the game was before ''any'' updates were added.

'''Date:''' From 24th of October release to 16th of November maintenance (from 23:00 to 04:45 on the 17th).

====Flight Destinations====

Unlike all updates following the game's initial state, Network Mode did not allow access to the planet Moatoob in it's initial state. It had the following planets, each with the one specified city and the following flight destinations (when leaving your "My Room"):

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"
|-
| GUARDIANS Branch
|}

====Types====

The three "basic" types (the classic trio from Phantasy Star Online) were the only possible GUARDIAN types on the game's launch:

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"
|-
| Hunter || Ranger || Force
|}

====Level Cap====

On the game's release, GUARDIANS could reach a maximum level of 50 before they stopped gaining experience points.

====Missions====

The following missions were available:

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"
|-
|-
| Grove of Fanatics || CBA || Shikon Archipelago || Agata Islands Area || Shikon Archipelago
|}

====Story Missions====

Network Mode began with no story missions available, the most obvious reason for this being that Network Mode story missions are a direct continuation of offline Story Mode and players would want to be given a fair amount of time to complete that before starting starting the Network Mode story mission string.

====Party Missions====

Network Mode began with no party missions available, the most obvious reason for this being that Network Mode was still new and Party Missions are somewhat involved and require a suitable amount of experience with the game, thus players would want to be given a fair amount of time to get used to the game before starting something as involved as these.

====Available====

The following weapons, photon arts, etc. were accessible at the start of the game:

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"
|-
|}

====Events====

Network Mode started out "vanilla", without any [[Events]] active. This is worthy of note not only for this article to be complete, but also because the game started out while the [[Events#Haloween|Haloween Event]] was active in the JP PC/PS2 version of Phantasy Star Universe.

====Other Changes====

* There was a patch download required during the first connection to Phantasy Star Universe Network Mode, however as this was the "initial state", it is unknown what this actually achieved, nor is it of particular importance.

==Update 001==

'''Date:''' From 16th of November maintenance (from 23:00 to 04:45 on the 17th) to 7th of December maintenance (from 23:00 to 04:00 on the 8th).

====Flight Destinations====

Access to the planet Moatoob was added in this update, adding three new flight destinations to the game on leaving "My Room":

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"

====Missions====

New missions were added to all three planets.
| Desert Terror || CBA || West Kugu Desert: Field Base || Galenigare Tunnel Area || Galenigare Tunnels: Underground Lake
|}

====Other Changes====

* Players have discovered that the Partner Machinery GH-450 now has issues switching weapons. Allegedly despite the switching animation and noise, the weapon remains the same and as such the PM now no longer heals, among other things.

* As of this update there have been numerous complaints about the PC version of the game experiencing mysterious periods of slowdown, mostly during Parum and Neudaiz missions. Some players have noted that this also occurred in the first JP update, though the immediate update after that fixed the issue. It is believed to be related to texture changes somehow.

* Prior to this patch, it has been reported that Hunters on the Xbox 360 version had incorrect stat calculations, making them level-for-level better off than their PC/PS2 counterparts and disproportionately more effective than Xbox 360 Rangers and Forces. This has been addressed in this patch, causing a large amount of unwarranted complaint from Xbox 360 Hunters.

==Update 002==

'''Date:''' From 7th of December maintenance (from 23:00 to 04:00 on the 8th) to 14th of December maintenance (from 23:00 to 04:00 on the 15th).

====Types====

Seven "expert" types were added in this update, a selection of three hybrid types, three specialist types, and one "experimental" type.

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"

This update raised the maximum level cap of GUARDIANS to level 60 before they stopped gaining experience points.

====Missions====

No all-new missions were added, but 2 missions were given S-Rank difficulty.
====Story Missions====

The first of a new series of story missions (obstensibly named "Episode 2" as it is set after the offline Story Mode) was introduced with this update.

This mission is titled "The Mask", is initiated from Clyez City 5th Floor: GUARDIANS HQ, and is freely repeatable.

====Available====

The following were added to become accessible:

====Events====

This update introduced the [[Events#Christmas|Christmas Event]] to the game, which lasted until the Update 005 on Boxing Day.

====Other Changes====

* This update was carried out entirely server-side, thus PC users did not receive a patch download for this update.

* As there was no patch download, previous client-side issues (most notably the texture/slowdown issue from Update 001) have yet to be resolved.

==Update 003==

==Update 004==

'''Date:''' From 21st of December maintenance (from 23:00 to 03:00 on the 22nd) to 26th of December ("rescheduled Boxing Day") maintenance.

====Story Missions====

The second of a new series of story missions (obstensibly named "Episode 2" as it is set after the offline Story Mode) was introduced with this update.

This mission is titled "Desert's End", is initiated from Clyez City 5th Floor: GUARDIANS HQ, and is freely repeatable.

====Other Changes====

* This update was carried out entirely server-side, thus PC users did not receive a patch download for this update.

* As there was no patch download, previous client-side issues (most notably the texture/slowdown issue from Update 001) have yet to be resolved.

==Update 005==

'''Date:''' From 26th of December ("rescheduled Boxing Day") maintenance to 11th of January maintenance (from 23:00 to 02:00 on the 12th).

====Events====

This update concluded the [[Events#Christmas|Christmas Event]] introduced in Update 002, sooner than many players expected.

This update also introduced the [[Events#New_Year|New Year's Event]] to the game, which lasted until Update 006 on the 11th of January.

===Other Changes===

* A [[Photon Charger]] was added next to the [[Universe Transporter]] next to the Flyer Base in Ohtoku City, presumably because the recent addition of Mizuraki Defense S had caused a notable amount of player activity in the area seeking a PP refill.

* This update was carried out entirely server-side, thus PC users did not receive a patch download for this update.

* As there was no patch download, previous client-side issues (most notably the texture/slowdown issue from Update 001) have yet to be resolved.

* This is not generally considered a "full update" as [[Events]] are not particularly tangible.

==Update 006==

'''Date:''' From 11th of January maintenance (from 23:00 to 02:00 on the 12th) to 18th of January maintenance (from 23:25 to 02:05 on the 19th).

====Level Cap====

This update raised the maximum level cap of GUARDIANS to level 70 before they stopped gaining experience points.

====Missions====

No all-new missions were added, but 3 missions were given S-Rank difficulty.
* The "trick" of disconnecting if a synthesis fails and then cancelling that synthesis to save a board use has also been made impossible - the "Cancel Synthesis" option now greys out when the synthesis time reaches 0:00 left.
====Events====

This update concluded the [[Events#Winter|Winter Event]] introduced in Update 006.

This update introduced the [[Events#Valentine.27s_Day|Valentine's Day Event]] to the game, which lasted until Update 011 on the 16th of February.

====Other Changes====

* This update was carried out entirely server-side, thus PC users did not receive a patch download for this update.

* There is a "Status adjustment of Partner Machinery." Player reaction suggests that this has basically upped the damage output of the GH-430, GH-440 and GH-450 models.

* Traps have received a "power adjustment". They now do more damage on being set off. Their status effects seem to remain unchanged.

* The rarity of "Moon Atomizer X" and "[B] Moon Atomizer X" has been changed from 7* to 6*. This means they are no longer considered "rares" by the game. However they still show as 7* in player shops.

==Update 010==

'''Date:''' From 8th of February maintenance (from 23:00 to 01:30 on the 9th) to 16th of February maintenance (from 03:20 to 03:30).

====Story Missions====

The fifth of the series of story missions (still "Episode 2") was introduced with this update.

This mission is titled "Valley of Doubt", is initiated from Clyez City 5th Floor: GUARDIANS HQ, and is freely repeatable.

====Other Changes====

* This update was carried out entirely server-side, thus PC users did not receive a patch download for this update.

* The [http://phantasystaruniverse.com/community_quests.php?item=20070202a English PSU update preview] cited that new Photon Arts (those bought via PA Fragments) were to be included with this update, however the [http://translate.google.com/translate?u=http%3A%2F%2Fxbox360.phantasystaruniverse.jp%2Fnews%2Fwis%2F%3Fmode%3Dview%26id%3D26&langpair=ja%7Cen&hl=en&ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&prev=%2Flanguage_tools JP 360 update preview] (Google translation) mentioned only the story mission. Ultimately the PAs were never added, with the EN staff citing "technical difficulties" as the reason.

* The ATA requirement to equip the [[Events#Valentine's Day|Valentine]] 10* bow "Kohibumiteri" was significantly lowered since it was noticed that the only type able to equip it (Fortetecher) have the lowest ATA in the game.

==Update 011==

'''Date:''' From 16th of February maintenance (from 03:20 to 03:30) to 1st? of March? maintenance (from ??:?? to ??:?? on the 2nd).

====Events====

This update concluded the [[Events#Valentine.27s_Day|Valentine's Day Event]] introduced in Update 009.

====Other Changes====

* This update was carried out entirely server-side, thus PC users did not receive a patch download for this update.

* This is not generally considered a "full update" as [[Events]] are not particularly tangible.

==Update 012==

====Missions====

A new mission was added to the "satellite" extension of the GUARDIANS Colony.
====Party Missions====

New "party" missions were added to Neudaiz and Moatoob. Unlike [[Bruce's Dungeon]] these are completable solo, do not forbid scapes, involve an NPC or have a time limit. However, at least two people are required in order to get most of the item boxes or S-Rank the mission.
====Available====

The update added "an Item Exchange mission" which is used to obtain the "License" Photon Arts, as those require exchanging the item [[PA Fragment]] for new skills, bullets and TECHNICs. In addition, the new free mission provides access to an interesting new shop.
! PA: TECHNICs
| Noszonde, Nosdiga, Giresta, Megid, Nosmegid, Megiverse.
|}

====Other Changes====

* There was a patch download required with this update.

* This update fixes the long-known bug known as "shift-cancelling" where PC players who used the "Keyboard" control scheme could make use of the "Shift" key to instantly cancel the casting of Dam-type and Nos-type TECHNICs. While not particularly harmful for Dam-type TECHs, Nos-type TECHs continue to take effect even after the casting has begun, so making extensive use of the bug would have allowed enterprising Fortetechers to achieve an alarming damage output.

* The Partner Machinery feeding change from Update 008 has been reverted - PC/PS2 players are now no longer kicked out of all menus every time they feed their PM one item.

* In the PC/PS2 versions, when under first-person view, players can now press the "Switch Weapon" button to use their Goggles, regardless of whether they are on their item palette or not. This results in one space on the item palette being freed up.

==Update 013==

'''Date:''' From 8th of March maintenance (from 23:05 to 01:15 on the 9th) to 22nd of March maintenance (from 23:05 to 00:00 on the 23rd).

====Level Cap====

This update raised the maximum level cap of GUARDIANS to level 80 before they stopped gaining experience points.

====Missions====

No all-new missions were added, but 3 missions were given S2-Rank difficulty.

====Story Missions====

The sixth of the series of story missions (still "Episode 2") will be introduced with this update.

This mission title is (potential spoiler, highlight: <font color="#FFFFFF">Rescuing Hyuga</font>), is initiated from Clyez City 5th Floor: GUARDIANS HQ, and is freely repeatable.

====Available====

This update delivered interesting new Partner Machinery devices to Phantasy Star Universe. Back in Update 002 the PM Device ZERO was added, which reset your Partner Machinery to Production and B St. level 0. These new devices allow you adapt the model (and only that model) of your Partner Machinery. For example: If you own a GH-420 model, you may use PM Device 421 or PM Device 422 in order to change it into GH-421 or GH-422 respectively.

Other known details are that 4_1 models are marketed as "defense type" with regenerative HP (as with a Me / HP Restore [[Units|unit]]) while 4_2 models are cited as "attack type" with the "Sturm Buster" SUV weapon!

====Events====

This update introduced the [[Events#White_Day|White Day Event]] to the game, which lasted until Update 014 on the 23rd of March.

====Other Changes====

* There was a "balance adjustment" to monsters and boss monsters of level 20 and above. It's believed this was mostly stat reductions.

==Update 014==

'''Date:''' From 22nd of March maintenance (from 23:05 to 00:00 on the 23rd) to 12th of April maintenance (from 23:00 to 02:30 on the 13th).

====Party Missions====

New "party" missions were added to Parum and Neudaiz. These are in the same vein as The Eastern Peril and Rogues' Shortcut.

This update concluded the [[Events#White_Day|White Day Event]] introduced in Update 013.

This update introduced the [[Events#Easter|Easter Event]] to the game, which lasted until Update 015 on the 13th of April.

====Other Changes====

* On the Xbox 360 servers, the "Tails" [[My Room Accessories#Room Goods|room decoration]] has appeared in the [[shared bank]] of seemingly random players. The detais on how people recieved this is still unknown, with theories such as beta/demo or St. Patrick's Day participation all being challenged. There will be a demo event soon for the 360 that grants participants the Tails decoration, but this is separate to the decorations that have already appeared.

This mission is titled "Protect the Festa", is initiated from Clyez City 5th Floor: GUARDIANS HQ, and is freely repeatable.

====Other Changes====

* Two new clothing sets each were added during this update. CASTs can buy parts from the GUARDIANS Colony as well as Moatoob, but the others must travel to Moatoob.

* The mission selection process has been slightly modified for mission counters which previously had two pages' worth (Agata Islands, Dagora City): Instead of listing possible missions and difficulties all on one screen, you must first select the mission and then the difficulty.

* Many monsters often seen as "the most annoying monsters in the game" have received a "rebalance" which has unsurprisingly been discovered to mean a downpowering. The list consists of:

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"
|-
|-
|}

* The drop rates of the following monsters was also adjusted (though to what end, we don't know):

{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"

==Update 031==
'''Date:''' 15th of Novemeber maintenance (from 23:00 to 06:30 on the 16th of November) to 29th of November maintenance (from 23:00 to 03:30 on the 30th).

====1Up Platinum Cup====
This update has ended the [[1Up Platinum Cup]]. Altogether, 4,212,511 Gurhal Check Points were earned!

====Season lobbies====
The Halloween lobbies were removed and replaced by the autumn lobbies in Clyez City and Ohotku City. The [[Autumn Leaves]] decoration also went on sale.

====Ambition of the Illuminus update====
The PC/PS2 servers received a massive update preparing everyone for the upcoming release of ''Ambition of the Illuminus''. The Xbox 360 servers will receive this update November 20th, when the expansion is available for purchase and download on Xbox Live.

=====System changes=====
* Players are now able to speak with NPC lobby attendants to move from main lobbies to any field lobbies they have visited following this update.
* Photon arts caps have been increased from LV30 to LV40, of course depending on restrictions set in place by a player's battle type. Visual indications of a photon art at LV31+ will only be seen by players who have the expansion.
* The character level cap was increased to LV110, while Guardian type caps have been increased to LV15.
* Protransers now have a new ability which allows them to see traps without goggles. The goggles must still be used, however, to uncover and disarm traps.
* Party members are now able to chat during certain cutscenes, such as boss entrances and death scenes.
* Players are now able to enter first-person mode while seated.
* A small delay has been added between switching from normal to first-person view, thus resolving certain glitches.

=====My room, synthesis and grinding=====
* A new shop search system has been introduced, which allows players to perform much more detailed searches for items in player shops. This update also allows players to view the prices, stats and other information of items in the search results window without having to go to a player's shop. The shop must be visited, of course, if a player wishes to purchase the item.
* Synthesis success rates have been increased along with the chances of receiving higher elemental attributes on lines shields and striking weapons.
* Synthesis failure has been adjusted to allow more more unique and varied items to result from a failed synthesis.
* In the event of a failed weapon grind, the weapon will no longer be destroyed. Instead, any previous successful grinds will be lost and the maximum number of grinds the weapon can handle will be decreased by one.

=====Battle system=====
* The new [[Just Attack]] and [[Just Counter]] moves have been introduced. Though usable in ''Phantasy Star Universe'', the full visual effects of these moves will be visible only to ''Ambition of the Illuminus'' players.
* Normal striking attacks will now recover photon points to the weapon being used. Critical hits will recover more PP.
* The elemental attribute damage equation has been adjusted, allowing for low percentage and non-elemental weapons to inflict more damage than before. Likewise, to balance things out with this change, the base damage and defense of players has been adjusted.
* Positive stat bonuses now remain on players even while using SUV weapons and nanoblasts.
* Weapon and line shield drops will now have random elements and percentages added to them.
* Meseta drops will increase when there are more players in a party.
* The default for item distribution has been changed to "set random." Furthermore, when the distribution is designated "set random" or "set in order," any Meseta picked up will be divided evenly between party members. "Give finder" will give the full amount to whoever picks it up.
* Certain low-power photon arts have been tweaked to make them more powerful.
* Large enemies have received a reduction in stamina, making it possible for even low-level status effects to work against them.
* The [[Hanzo]] and all Kubara striking weapons have been upgraded to make them work better with photon arts.
* A rebalance was performed on the following partner machines: GH143, GH423, GH433, GH443 and GH453.

=====Items and shops=====
* NPC shops will now pay more for certain items when sold back. Many items, such as various traps, have also received a reduction in price.
* Certain customization options at Lumilass have received a price reduction.
* A new trap, [[Burn Trap EX]], was introduced to NPC shops.
* Many B-rank units have become available in NPC shops.

====1Up Platinum Cup rewards====
This update marks the beginning of the rewards period earned during the [[1Up Platinum Cup]]. The reward period originally was planned to last for two weeks, but due to a rollback being necessary on the 360 servers, the reward period has been extended to a total of three weeks. * Free makeovers at Lumilass.
With the new missions come two new lobbies, [[Pavilion of Air: Top]] and [[Ohtoku: Shitenkaku]]. Shitenkaku features a special NPC who, when given Meseta, will give players a "fortune." This has a chance of increasing or decreasing one's photon fortune for part of the day. Furthermore, there is also an offertory box where players can donate items in hopes of getting special items in return.

====New clothes and parts====

====Seasonal lobbies====
The Clyez, Holtes and Dagora City lobbies have all been decorated for the Christmas season. And while running missions, be on the lookout for the rare [[Rappy Noel]]!

====New missions====
{| class="wikitable" style="text-align:center"
The new missions have introduced numerous new high-rank weapon and line shield drops. Also, clothing and parts shops have been updated with numerous new color variations for existing sets. And the offertory box at Shitenkaku has been updated to include the [[Mikumiko]] and [[CAS-miko Set]] as random gifts given through donations. It should be noted that these were originally stated to have been included in the last update, however this was a mistake on SEGA's part.

[[Casino Voloyal]]'s prize counter received an update which rotated out the Modern decoration series and replaced it with the Sweet/Berry series. Three new music discs were added along with two new redecoration tickets.

====TECHNIC system update====
Several adjustments were made to the TECHNIC system:
* Small changes were made to Resta, Reverse, Giresta, Regrant and Megistar.
* Ra-series TECHNICs will now hit four targets instead of only three at LV31+.
* All TECHNICs receive a 20% attack boost when cast with a rod.

====Miscellaneous====
Upon completion of this maintenance period, it was discovered that a test level, [[Enemy category]], was left accessible to all players. This level ran players through Linear Line (despite initiating at HIVE #3) and put them against spawns of Jaggos, Rappy Noels and Darbelans. A rollback had to be performed to remove the massive number of rare items (such as the seasonal [B] [[Dagger of Serafi]]) received through this mission.

==Update 034==
== Update 039 ==
'''Date:''' 7th of February maintenance (from 23:00 to 01:00 on the 8th) to 14th of February maintenance (from 23:00 to 01:00 on the 15th).

Following some issues with getting the necessary Xbox 360 title update certified by Microsoft, SonicTeam have delivered the content detailed in [[Updates#Update 038|update 038]] to the 360 servers. Unfortunately, this update is once again broken apart between servers. Details follow on which servers received what with this maintenance.

=== Seasonal lobby ===
Valentine's Day has returned to Gurhal. Be on the lookout for the rare [[Rappy Amure]]! All servers have received this update.

=== GUARDIANS Boost Road ===
The [[GUARDIANS Boost Road]] has begun on Moatoob! The following missions are part of this limited time event:
* [[System Defense]]
* [[Desert Terror]]
* [[Tunnel Recapture]]
* [[Caves of Ice]]
The more ranks you earn on these missions, the better the drop rates for them become, with a maximum boost of 50%. Remember that your bonus is based on the mission you've run the least, so work with all five missions to get the most of the bonus.
Please post your vote (and if you want, your reasoning) on this issue in this section. *'''Sounomi:''' I vote we use Sounomi's abbreviation set. Even though the JP Wiki's set has been used longer, Sounomi's set solves the issue of confusion some have had over fG/FG, which is Fighgunner and which is Fortegunner. Also, I just think it looks nicer than having random lowercase letters in certain abbreviations. (I still don't understand why the JP Wiki users decided to give the Acro-types a lowercase ''a''.) One other thing, I've seen a few people complain that the PSUPedia seems to be a rip-off of the JP Wiki, so by using an abbreviation set that didn't originate from there, it might help set apart even further. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 15:13, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*'''JP-Wiki:''' I vote we use the JP-Wiki set. We've been using this for a while now and I think most people can grasp the difference between fG and FG (the confusion tends to come mostly from people on forums who don't capitalize, and even then it can usually be worked out from context). As an aside, for ease of reading, I suggest putting either '''JP-Wiki''' or '''Sounomi''' at the start of our comments. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 16:50, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Sounomi'''. --[[User:Beatrixkiddo|Beatrixkiddo]] 17:14, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*<b>JP-Wiki:</b> For all the reasons I said below. However, I'd really prefer JP-Wiki style, but with capital As for the Acro classes. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 18:04, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Sounomi'''. - [[User:Saiffy|Saiffy]] 18:35, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Sounomi''', also for reasons I stated below (and what's the point of a mixed-case abbreviation for the Acro classes?). EpisoKaos also raises some valid points about differentiating PSUPedia from the JP Wiki. [[User:F Gattaca|F Gattaca]] 20:13, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Sounomi''', less ambiguity is better. [[User:Malice|Malice]] 23:23, 5 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Sounomi''' probably. First things first: I don't see much of a reason to differentiate from PSU-wiki. Since the sites have a limited overlap in their target audiences, there shouldn't be a sense of competition. I'd rather have them credited for what they're worth to the international community than try to be 'better'. Anyway, anyone able to differentiate the old-style acronyms (these aren't abbreviations, btw) shouldn't have trouble with the new ones either. Since in Japanese the alphabet is mostly used for set acronyms rather than phonetically, they would have been less likely to get confused by them in the first place. If the amount of people that feels put off by the fG/FG confusion is significant, I feel the change is justified. - [[User:Tycho|Tycho]] 17:03, 6 August 2007 (BST)
**I'm not too sure why the type terms are acroynms and not abbreviations. We're talking about type classifications formed from the shortening of the full word, after all. We do the same for titles like "Fr." for Father (clerical), "Dr." for Doctor, and so on. I thought acronyms only referred to words/terms created from letters taken a phrase or multiple words, like "LASER" from Light Amplified by Stimulated Emission of Radiation or "RADAR" from RAdio Detecting And Ranging ... or maybe even "PSU" from Phantasy Star Universe, "AMF" from Alliance Military Force, or "TTB" from Triplanetary Transportation Bureau (did I get that one right?).<br><br>If the class types were not an entire word as they appear to be, I'd agree that they are acronyms, but ... [[User:F Gattaca|F Gattaca]] 23:56, 6 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Neither'''. I propose using Fo for forte Ac for acro and Fi for Figh. The difference between FoG and FiG is immediately obvious, no matter what standard you personally use. If you see only 'FG' you're still going to have to know which standard this place is using. [[User:Au+|Au+]] 20:42, 6 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Sounomi''' looks cleaner and less ambiguity. We don't have to follow the Japanese on EVERYTHING when it doesn't make sense to. [[User:Firehawke|Firehawke]] 01:54, 7 August 2007 (BST)
*'''JP-Wiki:''' Makes more sense, only the base classes use the first 2 letters, why should an advanced class be stuck with that format as well? If Sounomi was simply meant to be unambiguous, it should have continued WA, GU and PR since those are unique as well. --[[User:JustTrio|JustTrio]] 15:36, 8 August 2007 (BST)
** You make a good point, however. Hunter, Ranger and Force are the classes from PSO, where they were called HU, RA and FO respectively. They aren't acronyms in the same sense as FI or WT, simply a shorthand version of it. But the JP-Wiki uses this too, so... - [[User:Saiffy|Saiffy]] 18:01, 8 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Sounomi''': It just makes sense. I actually agree with JustTrio and would have preferred GU, WA and PR (or PO) but the most important thing is getting rid of this Fighgunner/Fortegunner confusion which - like it or not - does exist. - [[User:Miraglyth|Miraglyth]] 23:48, 8 August 2007 (BST)
*'''JP-Wiki''': JP wiki sounds like the best way, except for the new jobs. Sou-whoever for the 2 new classes. --[[User:Sasamichan|Sasamichan]] 21:04, 9 August 2007 (BST)
==VOTE: Heading and sub-heading capitalization==
We would like to set a standard for the capitalization of [http://psupedia.info/The_PSUPedia:Manual_of_Style#Headings_and_sections_.28PENDING.29 headings and sub-headings] within individual articles at the PSUPedia. Please cast your vote on which of the following styles you prefer. Voting will be open from now until 12:00a.m. CST August 12.

*[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style#Sections_and_headings Wikipedia Standard] - The first letter of the first word and all proper nouns thereafter are capitalized, but everything else is lowercase.
*[http://www.pvc.maricopa.edu/lsc/faq/eng/engapaman.htm#head APA Standard] - Multiple variations all depending upon the heading type.
*[http://www.journalofromanarch.com/edit.html AJA Standard] - Capitalize the first letter of the first word and all proper nouns, but apply no punctuation to the end of the heading.
*[http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:j003Ubbx-gQJ:www.docstyles.com/archive/mlastudy.pdf+capitalizing+subheadings&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=7&gl=us MLA Standard] - The first letter of each word is capitalized unless it is an article (''a'', ''an'', ''the''), a preposition (''against'', ''between'', ''in'', ''of'', ''to'') a conjunction (''and'', ''but'', ''for'', ''nor'', ''or'', ''so'', ''yet') or the infinitive ''to''.

If you know of any other standards that you are fond of, please feel free to cast a vote for them here, but be sure to give a source for examples and so forth. Voting on this will be open from now until 12:00a.m. CST August 12.
*'''Wikipedia:''' I vote that we use the Wikipedia standard. I personally like how it looks, plus it's very simple and straightforward with minimal rules to follow. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 15:46, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Wikipedia:''' I have to agree with the simplicity of the Wikipedia standard. Easy enough to follow. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 16:52, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*'''Wikipedia'''. --[[User:Beatrixkiddo|Beatrixkiddo]] 17:14, 4 August 2007 (BST)
* <b>MLA:</b>: Because it is what everything uses. Not capitalizing a noun in a title makes me :<. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 18:12, 4 August 2007 (BST)
* '''Wikipedia''', because it's the simplest. I like MLA better, but it will be harder to follow consistently. [[User:Malice|Malice]] 23:21, 5 August 2007 (BST)
* '''Wikipedia'''. - [[User:Tycho|Tycho]] 17:14, 6 August 2007 (BST)
* '''Abstain'''. I'm not sure if it's couth to cast a vote for two things. While I prefer a standard like that of the APA and MLA (with the MLA governing what to capitalize, and the APA governing which subheadings are capitalized where others are simply written like a sentence), Wikipedia has a strong precedent ... therefore I'll abstain.
==Page-stretching and so forth==
*Well, I was able to fix the stretching of the page with the addition of the ''code'' and ''nowiki'' tags, but the result is now a bit more jumbled, as line breaks are no longer obvious. We'll have to mess around with it some more to see if we can make a work-around. Of course, we could always take it out of table format and just have the section divided vertically. (The first part is "what you type" and the second part is "what you get.") [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 19:02, 31 July 2007 (BST)
**The code part of the table probably doesn't have to be "as-is." It may be possible to modify the appearance of the code on the page, while the actual text (when copypasted into a edit box) will produce the same result as what's seen. [[User:F Gattaca|F Gattaca]] 19:21, 31 July 2007 (BST)
***I've played around with it some more, but I can't seem to come up with a way to make the code retain its line breaks so that the table will show up properly when inserted into a new page. (I'm still kind of green when it comes to wiki-coding, so I probably missed something.) So, until we can figure out a way to resolve this using the side-by-side comparison, I'm going to change things over a bit to where the code and result display vertically. We don't want people trying to use the jumbled code to think it doesn't work right because of the lack of line breaks, right? ;) [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 15:47, 1 August 2007 (BST)

==Capitalization and so forth==
*I've been looking at the [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Manual_of_Style Wikipedia Manual of Style] for inspiration on getting this section going, and I realized that they prefer the capitalization of titles to follow the rule of the first letter being in caps with all subsequent words (sans proper nouns, of course) being in lowercase. I know we don't have to follow this since PSUPedia is not a part of Wikipedia, but should we follow it? Personally, I actually like how it looks. What are you guys' thoughts on this? [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 18:43, 31 July 2007 (BST)
**This kind of thing seems highly dependent on the organization's preference. I tried looking up manuals of style that deal with subheadings (as these would be). [http://www.pvc.maricopa.edu/lsc/faq/eng/engapaman.htm#head This college's First-Year English FAQ] demonstrates the APA's way of treating headings and subheadings, which in some ways could be applied to a wiki.<br><br>Meanwhile, the AJA's manual of style says to [http://www.journalofromanarch.com/edit.html capitalize only the first word and important words] but not to put a period or other punctuation at the end of the subheading.<br><br>The MLA says that [http://64.233.167.104/search?q=cache:j003Ubbx-gQJ:www.docstyles.com/archive/mlastudy.pdf+capitalizing+subheadings&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=7&gl=us each word in a title is capitalized], except for articles (''a, an, the''), prepositions (''against, between,in, of, to''), conjunctions (''and, but, for, nor, or, so, yet''), and the infinitive ''to''.<br><br>I guess it's mostly up to what we want to see, but I'm predisposed towards using capitalization of words in high-level headings ("==" type), but not in lower-level headings. [[User:F Gattaca|F Gattaca]] 19:22, 31 July 2007 (BST)
* I think we should follow it, but let's wait and see what others say first. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 19:26, 31 July 2007 (BST)
* I think we should follow the MLA-type standard, since it just makes the most sense, and is how everything (books, movies, articles, magazines, etc.) is titled. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 20:15, 31 July 2007 (BST)

==A few things==
* Not sure exactly if these are supposed to be in this Manual of Style, but a few things for consideration:
** Any names (of NPCs, items, missions, places, etc.) that have been translated from Japanese due to the lack of an official localization are to be put in parantheses until the official localization is known, at which point the localization takes precedence. An example is [[Fight For Food]], which until the US closed beta shortly before release was known by its Japanese name of (Farm Plant Recovery).
** Item types should be referred to by their proper names if possible, i.e. Line Shields instead of Armor.
** To head off any future problems, weapon type names should be made consistent - particularly Cards/Throwing Blades/whatever the flavour of the month name is. I propose we use Cards, as that is how the Perfect Bible and PSU-Wiki refer to them.
** When writing the star rarity of an item, use the ★ symbol consistently. Don't use * or anything like that. It can be reproduced by copy/pasting or switching to Japanese input and typing 'hoshi' (then pressing Space to change it).
** For consistency, since the game is in US English, we use US English here as well. See [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/American_and_British_English_differences here] for the major differences.

If I think of anything else I'll list it here. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 19:26, 31 July 2007 (BST)
*Excellent! I'll get started on working these things in. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 20:40, 31 July 2007 (BST)
* er, not trying to make much of a point here, but just for the record, in Europe the game was released with dialogue in British English plus three other European languages. I agree to preserve US English preferences for the wiki articles though, if only to adhere to the dominant standard. - [[User:Tycho|Tycho]] 17:26, 6 August 2007 (BST)

==Abbreviations==
*Dun dun dun! Now we get to the abbreviations and what we'll consistently use when it comes to type names. I, for one, side with [http://www.amesani.org/soukosa/psu/classabbr.txt Sounomi's proposal], which creates a case-insensitive, easy-to-recognize abbreviation for types that would share letters under the abbreviations that originated from the Japanese wiki. For example, Fighgunner and Fortegunner would be FI and FG, respectively. I haven't added in the type abbreviations to the list just yet, as we first should come to a consensus on what we'll use. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 19:45, 31 July 2007 (BST)
* Ah, this spectre. I personally support and use the PSU-Wiki abbreviations and have no real problem differentiating between fG and FG, but whichever is clearer to the majority would be the one to go with. My vote goes to the PSU-Wiki abbreviations, though. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 19:53, 31 July 2007 (BST)
* I will definitely and adamantly support the traditional (i.e. FG/fG) style abbreviations, simply because they have been used by the vast majority for almost a year now. I have no difficulty distinguishing between FG and fG, especially given context. Furthermore, I do not see the need to be meticulous when it comes to Att. versus ATP and the like. To be absolutely honest, I think that it is stupid that there is even a difference in game, and I never see people use Att., Def., Eva., and the like. I do not see why we can't just use ATP/ATA/DFP/EVP/MST/etc. for everything, simply because it eliminates confusion and those are the abbreviations most commonly used. However, I reckon my opinion will be in the minority on that issue. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 20:06, 31 July 2007 (BST)
**That's an excellent point, Qwerty. I think I'll actually merge a few things together, making Acc. and ATA under the same listing with a general description as opposed to the "in reference to weapon stats" descriptor. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 20:25, 31 July 2007 (BST)
**I strongly side with Sounomi's style. It's much better to have two unique letter combinations for a type class, not to mention "FI" is a nod to the "first two letters" abbreviation rule of the old PSO days. it's also not case dependent; that helps avoid confusion with mis-capped abbreviations or people who just throw the shift key out the window (I've encountered situations like this before!). I personally use it for my user page as well as my signature on PSO-World.<br><br>As far as the "Att." and "Acc." issue, it ''might'' be a good idea if the weapon tables link to [[Stats]] and the corresponding stat, so that people who aren't PSOldschool will understand it's the same thing. [[User:F Gattaca|F Gattaca]] 21:26, 31 July 2007 (BST)
*** Well, FI might be slightly less confusing to some, but FG/fG has been used as the standard for a year, and I must favor precedent. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 21:47, 31 July 2007 (BST)
****Good idea on linking the stat abbreviation to its article, Gattaca. I'll see if I can do some cleaning up of the stats page and we can get everything linked over as we go with page redesigns. As far as the type abbreviations go, we're tied with two for the JP wiki style and two for Sounomi's style. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 15:38, 1 August 2007 (BST)
**I just found [http://pgr.sakura.ne.jp/cgi-bin/board/board.cgi?board=99&cmd=topic&wparam=393 something interesting] on the abbreviation thing at the JP wiki. Apparently there was much debating over what the abbreviations they use should be, and the issue of confusion between fG and FG was brought up many times. Some suggestions users over there made to get around this include ''Fr'' to stand for "forte." So, FrF would be Fortefighter. Also, someone suggested ''FFi'', ''FGu'' and ''FTe'' for Fortefighter, Fortegunner and Fortetecher, respectively. Many more suggestions were made, but that's way too many to list. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 03:57, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*** In my not-so-humble opinion, those all are even more unnecessarily confusing than either the traditional system or Sounomi's. Just my two cents. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 05:39, 4 August 2007 (BST)
****Oh, I agree. I just wanted to point out some other suggestions that were thrown about on the issue. ;) [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 14:46, 4 August 2007 (BST)

== Template Nonsense ==
* I just made a metric ass-load of templates for use on weapon pages. This should make them much easier to put together, requiring less memorization of the confusing color-codes (or alt-tabbing to another, completed, article's edit page, which is just as silly), less typing for the image tags, and general happiness through technology. Check [[Rifles]], it works out the same, and saved a bunch of text. Not going to add it to the style manual until I garner praise and cookies from you all though. --[[User:Beatrixkiddo|Beatrixkiddo]] 04:48, 1 August 2007 (BST)
** Lolk after some fun times, I've found out that A) Templates only work if they are one-per-cell. B) Multiple Templates in the headers of tables don't get along and C) Template descriptions don't work so well with the color-code templates. Other than that, have fun with them! --[[User:Beatrixkiddo|Beatrixkiddo]] 05:31, 1 August 2007 (BST)
***Excellent work! I don't see why these won't be approved, but I'll wait for more feedback before adding them in. (Or, I could add them in with the pending title until it's made official.) [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 01:57, 2 August 2007 (BST)

== Am I just blind, or what?==
<i>If one of these weapons is not yet released in the Japanese version of PSU, use the code <nowiki>style="background:#fff2f2"</nowiki> in the row divider above it (|-).</i>
* I cannot tell the difference between this color and pure white, at all. It's not really important, I guess, but maybe we should try a slightly darker tone? --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 06:06, 1 August 2007 (BST)
**It should appear as a faint red. This should actually be changed to the red used in the new color-coding table I added. (<code><nowiki>style="background:#FFAAAA"</nowiki></code>) Of course, I need to verify first that this is the standard. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 01:54, 2 August 2007 (BST)
***Querty, I noticed in your weapons page proposal that you chose very dark grey colors for your tables, where the "wikitable" format already has a significant division of color; maybe your monitor's brightness is set too high? [[User:F Gattaca|F Gattaca]] 22:00, 2 August 2007 (BST)
**** Lolya. My brightness is set at 100, and contrast at 28, but my monitor color always seems off if I change it. But I yeah, I suspect that is what's going on. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 23:02, 2 August 2007 (BST)
**** Oh, wow. I mean, wow. I played around with some settings on my monitor and driver. Honest to God, I never knew the wikitable class had background colors pre-assigned, they always showed up as pure white on my screen. With that in mind, I think I need to change my Weapon Template, as those colors really are too dark. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 00:37, 3 August 2007 (BST)
==Voting on pending issues of style==
*OK, we're getting an excellent start on this by getting a standard established for the PSUPedia. Now all we need to do is vote on a few subjects at hand (the pending issues in the manual) to move even further. So, how should we handle voting? Maybe leave it open for a set period of time (one week?) and then go with the decision from there? Or maybe we should just close the polls once we get votes from everyone participating in the creation of the manual? Other ideas? [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 04:49, 3 August 2007 (BST)
** I'd say, set a deadline of one week to vote, and mention it on the frontpage so any visitors can come and vote. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 10:42, 3 August 2007 (BST)
***OK. When I put it on the front page, would a little blurb in bold below the welcome line but before the actual paragraph be good? (Like where the mention of our Super Holy Light week and the addition of Her Secret Mission was located.) I can just link to this page from there. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 03:30, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*** Yeah, that sounds good, people will have to know what they're voting on and it might help grab their attention. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 10:27, 4 August 2007 (BST)
*** I think there have been wiki extensions emulating polls floating around, if you want. In fact, I think I there was one installed earlier actually... Probably got killed during all the transfers and server moves and whatnot. - [[User:Tycho|Tycho]] 17:53, 6 August 2007 (BST)
*** Er, [http://psupedia.info/Special:Version actually]... >_>
****Ah, cool. I'll look into the proper markup for writing a poll (since it's not detailed there, unless I just missed it) and see if we can use it for the next one we need. Thanks for the tip! [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 19:09, 7 August 2007 (BST)

==Weapon table revision==
*Since our S-rank listing is using a darker red to point out items that have not been released in any version of the game, shouldn't our new weapon table do the same? Or is there a reason that it uses a lighter shade of red? [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 03:49, 4 August 2007 (BST)
** I believe the notion was that it was too dark/bold for general use in other temples but let me mess around with it, and see how it looks. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 05:40, 4 August 2007 (BST)
***Any updates on this end? ;) [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 19:14, 7 August 2007 (BST)
*** Yeah, I was wondering this myself. The sooner finalized templates can be shown by the both of you, the sooner we can vote on them and institute a standard. Oh, by the way, something neither of you seem to have considered at the moment is AoI - if you are working on your templates at all you might want to add a place to put which versions of the game an item is available on, for future use. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 21:23, 7 August 2007 (BST)
**** Perhaps we can make the text for the item name yellow...while still retaining it as a link to its own article. Not sure if this is possible, or if it'd even look good though. But a seperate coloumn would probably be a lot easier anyways. - [[User:Saiffy|Saiffy]] 21:36, 7 August 2007 (BST)
****I'll see if I can mess around with the tables some to add a column for ''AotI''-exclusive items. Same for the individual item templates. On that, I'm trying to come up with some ideas for templates on other non-weapon stuff like traps, materials and consumables. I'll try to get some things done on that as soon as possible. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 21:59, 7 August 2007 (BST)
****OK, [http://psupedia.info/User_talk:EspioKaos#Weapon_template_test here we go]. I quickly added in a column before the comments section to display which version of the game an item is from. As I state in my notes there, I think the italics look a little silly, but I don't want to make a double-standard since game titles are supposed to be italicized anyway. Perhaps we could use a small icon similar to the manufacturer icons? [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 00:41, 8 August 2007 (BST)
**** For tables, I suggest we do use something like a very pale yellow as Saiffy suggested, or put in the extra column as Espio did. Alternatively, we could use a very small icon to denote AotI-only things in tables and lists. For articles addressing a bunch of AotI-only content, I suggest we just use something like below. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 06:16, 8 August 2007 (BST) {{AotI Only}}
**** Me again. [[User:Qwerty/Sandbox|Here is an example]] of two possible ways to denote an AotI item/quest/whatever in tabular/list form. As noted there, I'm more so fond of the little icon ([[image:aotionly.png]]), as it can be more widely applied. Also, too many varying colors in a table is both hard to remember and confusing to the lay reader. Anyway, comments plx. --[[User:Qwerty|Qwerty]] 06:50, 8 August 2007 (BST)
**** I prefer the column directly stating PSU or AoI, it'd be good for any future expansions, and the colour has the flaw of not telling us if the item is released or not. - [[User:Mewn|Mewn]] 11:14, 8 August 2007 (BST)
*Check [http://psupedia.info/User_talk:EspioKaos#Weapon_template_test this out]. I opted for a scaled down version of the ''Illuminus'' logo as opposed to the exclamation point from the beta. I just like it better. ;) Now we'll need a logo for just the base game. [[User:EspioKaos|EspioKaos]] 20:07, 8 August 2007 (BST)
