Photon Fortune, also called ''Holy Light'' and popularly just referred to as ''Luck'' (originating from fan translations), is an attribute through which randomized events and processes in the game are modified. Every day at 12:00 AM ([http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/UTC%2B9 JST] for the Japanese servers, [http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pacific_Standard_Time_Zone PST] for the English and Xbox 360 ones), each of the eight possible race/gender combinations is assigned a value from zero to three (0 to 3), where zero is the most unlucky and three is the luckiest; these assignments are the same each day for all servers. Luck appears next to the character name, as seen in the images to the right.

[[Partner machines]] have the same Luck as [[CAST]] characters, but currently this isn't of any use.

It is possible to change your Photon Fortune for a period of time at the [[shrine maiden]] located in the [[Shitenkaku]] lobby on [[Neudaiz]].

The 3 types of luck you can get from her are as follows.
Miniholy - 1 | [[Image:Luck1.gif]] ||
Superholy - 2 | [[Image:Luck2.gif]] ||
Megaholy - 3 | [[Image:Luck3.gif]] ||
The 4th type is Zero and has no image.
She can also give you 0 luck and will generally do so if you buy the 100 luck or the 1000 luck. It has been proven that if you buy luck when you have 1 luck 70% of the time you WILL get 1 luck in return, there is however a very rare chance to still get 2 or 3, but 0 is very rare when buying luck if you have 1 luck. 1 Luck is known to be the single most common luck given out by either daily luck OR by the Shrine Maiden.
Female Newmans ARE known to get 3 luck the most often of the Female race.

== Effects of Photon Fortune ==
* Slightly increases success rate when grinding weapons, 1% increase for each luck amount. Example: 1 luck would make a 91% Success rate item 92%.
* Increases enemy drop rate.
 
Although many of these are still widely believed by the general player base, only "some" of the following are affected by Photon Fortune:
* Quality of drops
* Chance for super-rare items (such as S-rank weapon boards) to drop
* Item drops from boss boxes
* Synthing success rate or attribute percentage
* Rare spawn appearance rate
* [[Casino Voloyal]] slot machine odds
*Special drops such as Gugg Crown or Gaozoran Rod
