Naming schemes
As you noticed, I was going through several of the weapons pages and noting any multilingual references I could find. I wanted to talk to you about the naming scheme for common weapons, though:

Most of the 1 to 5 star common weapons take their names after similar common weapons in PSO. There's places where this convention breaks (like "Durandal" instead of "Gladius," or "Shooter" and "Bullseye" instead of "Beam" and "Laser"), but it seems to be more of an exception rather than a rule.

I noticed that the names for common shotguns follows the same pattern; PSO's common shotguns (in order of rarity) are Shot, Spread, Cannon, Launcher, and Arms. In PSU, the order is similar: Shigga Damud, Shigga Spud, Shigga Wadda, Shigga Bigul, Shigga Amza.

Some of the names for PSU shotguns sound somewhat similar to the PSO ones if spoken aloud; compare Wadda and Cannon. Shigga Spud and Shigga Amza popped out as being especially similar to Spread and Arms as far as names go. Looking at weapon types where all three companies make a weapon of the same rarity, you can see how a word changes from plain English (GRM) to pseudo-Japanese (Yohmei) to ... well, whatever inspired how Beasts talk (Tenora). For example: Breaker, Brekaud, and Soda Brekka.

That's why I figured that at least some of the common shotguns were named after PSO shots. - F Gattaca 03:42, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
* I can see a few of them maybe possibly being references (Spud and Amza), but the others are just a bit too far of a stretch to me, so they seem a bit more like grasping at straws, trying to force a PSO reference out of the name. (I keep saying "Wadda" and "Cannon" aloud, but all I'm hearing is something like "water cannon." lol) - EspioKaos 23:37, 5 December 2009 (UTC)
** Yeah, I do admit it's a stretch on a number of those, but having looked at other names with Beast-y words, well ... the Beasts really mangle words, so I figured that if two fit the pattern in terms of rank and name similarity, the others might also. Gur Neda sounds like "grenade" when pronounced out loud, for instance, and given it is a grenade launcher, it seems to be intentional, as was some of the others you noted (Gur Hanab, Gur Missal, Gur Napam, etc.) ... Though I guess those don't stretch plausibility as much as Wadda/Cannon. (And yeah, saying both one after another does sound like "water cannon," haha!) - F Gattaca 05:31, 6 December 2009 (UTC)

PSP2 templates
* Few points and questions:
** Grinding is random like in PSP1, so a grind template might not really be worth it.
** Special effects on weapons are displayed in the weapon's stats now, are we still keeping them in the Item Details section?
** How are we going to handle final-grinded weapons? Two articles - e.g. Saber and Saber (S grade) - is probably the easiest option, but I was wondering if you had any ideas. - Mewn 18:38, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
* I'm not sure about grinds being random anymore. I just fully upgraded three Brands, and each one increased the same amount with each grind. I was pretty sure they were supposed to be random, too, but maybe it was changed. Could just be a demo thing, so we'll see when the full version comes out.
* On special effects, we could add something to the stats table. I'll go over some ideas to see what I can come up with. Ultimately, I'd like to keep the stats table matched in height with the shop table, so I might spread everything out over six columns, and add a full span row on the bottom for the stats effects.
* For the Extend Code-upgraded weapons, the first thing to come to mind was a separate article for the S-grade weapon, as you said. It's possible we could include something in the normal article, but no decent ideas for what have come to mind yet. - EspioKaos 22:52, 28 November 2009 (UTC)
Thank You for your time and help PrimevaLL
* Ack, that's a first! I don't think I've ever seen that happen. If I had to guess, it seems like it's the div tags you're using. Maybe those coupled with certain wikicodes just kills the page. If you're just trying to get two columns with those tables in them, that can be done with a normal wikitable. I'll go ahead and fix it for you. - EspioKaos 22:22, 4 September 2009 (UTC)
Now that rifles can get to SE 5, what is the damage potential of Burn and Infection and any other SE that has a change at 5? - Wolf of the Brigade
* I'm not sure, to be completely honest. I believe the chances of infliction and the percent of damage inflicted go up at LV5, but I've got no clue about actual figures for it. Sorry! - EspioKaos 21:41, 17 February 2009 (CST)
** Well, I can say for a certainty that it went up at SE 5. As to how much, I can only assume it follows the growth of the previous levels, so Burn will hit 30% total and Infection will hit 45%. It's an educated guess, but I've seen it doing more damage for me for sure. - Wolf of the Brigade
Some changes on the PSP pages
For some reason I decided to start adding info to the non-existent pages. I've done some touches here and there. I have the PSP game and figure it was time to do my share (I was taking a break with pedia and games in general).

I updated some of the descriptions, added a few subcategories like titles. My plan is to get all the PA pages done and work on items. I don't know a lick of japanese so it makes things hard. If you have the game I could use some help with what items are what so I don't have to change my class, buy all the skills, and try them (I plan on doing that sometime later.) For the time being, I would love if anyone who has the game to make revisions/additions to what I've started. I don't post on the forums so I figured I would let you know since you seem to be the one with the most contributions to the PSP section. If I ever get motivated, I just might post on the forums. Thanks for all the help and any questions you have feel free to ask me.

DawgPilez 23:46, 16 September 2008 (CDT)
* Excellent. We appreciate the help! Unfortunately, I don't own the game (I don't even have a PSP, actually), but I plan on getting both eventually. I'll still help out with what I can, of course. When I have more free time, I'll be adding new weapon articles using the screens that Mewn made of each weapon from the in-game weapon library. - EspioKaos 08:42, 17 September 2008 (CDT)

*Is there a need to have new pages for same weapon in the PSP section that the other games? http://psupedia.info/PSP:Title_system has items with the exact same effect as they do in the other games (not just the only page). I wanted to know if there was a need for this. While rarity is changed for most items, the item effects are the same. If there is a need for new pages....this will be a fun time =/ DawgPilez 13:06, 22 September 2008 (CDT)
** Yeah. Basically, PSP is considered a completely separate game from PSU and AOTI, just like the offline modes of those two are separate from online (as far as articles here are concerned). Which reminds me. I think it was in a sandbox of yours that you have the version column of a photon arts section listing the PSU icon for what is meant to be part of the PSP section. That should be changed since anything in a PSP article will relate only to that version of the game. Otherwise, it sort of implies that the handheld game is connected to the console title as if it were an expansion. - EspioKaos 13:14, 22 September 2008 (CDT)
** 'Is there a need to have new pages for same weapon in the PSP section that the other games?' - the simple answer to this is yes, because items vary wildly between versions in many respects... stats, rarity, special effects, drops etc. and the simplest way of doing things on the wiki is simply to have seperate articles in the relevant namespace. It means more work, sure, but we just ask that people contribute as much as they can and put in as much effort as they are willing to. There's no pressure to get things done and this section will be largely ignored until US release, at least. - Mewn 14:49, 22 September 2008 (CDT)
***And about the US release, suppose the isn't one (as I have long predicted basic on some research) will the PSP section remain? Also, aside from Mewn, espio, and Miraglyph, who else is working on it because I'm only sure that I have the game and don't have others here to reference with. If any of you know of some the people on the pso-world forums that have the game and could pitch in, it would be great. By what I've seen, many of them have progress much further than I have. Also, outside of some stats, rarity, and few minor effects, the PSP version is identical to the past iterations at least as far as PAs, clothing, pallete items, and quite a few other things... -DawgPilez 12:23, 1 October 2008 (CDT)
**** The section would remain. But for what it's worth, the SOA president has already let slip that a local release is in the works. We're still waiting for an official announcement, but I think it's safe to say we'll get it eventually. - EspioKaos 15:45, 1 October 2008 (CDT)
***** With the announcement of it coming next year I hope my saved data transfers. I would be quite ahead of the crowd and I could get so much more work done...But by that time the majority of info will be filled. Here's to hard work being overlooked by a translation in half a year. -DawgPilez 13:39, 19 October 2008 (CDT)
* I'm not sure, to be honest. Sounds like something was changed on the backend to disallow PNGs from being uploaded, but that's only a guess. Maybe Tycho, Qwerty or Mewn know something about it. If all else fails, we could convert the icons you've ripped from the game to GIF, upload those and update the affected templates with the new extension. - EspioKaos 12:26, 21 December 2008 (CST)
** That's what I'm thinking. I remember he gets all pissy about Alteraz being defeated so easily (since it was supposed to be the COG's ultimate weapon), so I'd say he's borderline hyperventilating from shock or something. There's nothing that really suggested to me that Rutsu transformed into this creature. Anyway, I'll be playing the mission again soon on the JP side (just got up to that chapter in my story mode runs), so I'll go over it to make sure when I do play through it. - EspioKaos 11:41, 11 January 2009 (CST)
I was wondering about the changes to a couple of the SUV pages. I don't think anything but Paradi Cataract drops. Unless you assume they might in the future. Besides that, there are already images for some of the other SUVs and I don't see why not. I'm guessing you're just using the standard for unit pages, but I figured to ask if you had any other ideas. S-T-H 19:46, 19 January 2009 (CST)
* Yeah, I just copy-pasted the blank template to update those. Guess I should've remembered to put the image gallery thing in. On the drop tables, I kept them there just for the sake of filling out the pages a bit more. Actually, now that I think of it, maybe I should poke at the template code a bit to make it where we can change "unknown" to "no drops" or something like that. Oh, and thanks for fixing those Buster SUVs I messed up. I just now realized that the 5★ rarity I gave them was from offline. >_< - EspioKaos 20:01, 19 January 2009 (CST)
Is 200+ really necessary? The way things have been going, it seems to me like it might just go 175+ and cap off at 200. Even if they do go past it, it'll probably take quite a while. I think in this case it might be better to worry about it if/when it comes. --S-T-H 06:31, 14 June 2009 (UTC)
So I noticed Toothball's updates and I also noticed PSU-wiki now doesn't list the limit of the newer five color combos of each set. They're definitely in there...I just checked recently. I'm guessing these were probably in the June update? I know JP hasn't delisted the exception, but you don't think they put the original Rappy Suits into the random draw? --S-T-H 06:51, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
I'd test it out if I had the materials, but looking at what all it would require, I'd maybe be able to do it just once. D: - EspioKaos 13:47, 27 October 2009 (UTC)
Or this one: Note Seed<br>
Or even this one: Paper Lantern<br>

* Few points and questions:

Question/Help
Could you take a look at my page and tell me why the Guide Bar is on the right side of my page please... when i "preview" it looks normal but when i clicked "save" it came up like that ... any help would be appreciated..

I remember he gets all pissy about Alteraz being defeated so easily (since it was supposed to be the COG's ultimate weapon), so I'd say he's borderline hyperventilating from shock or something. There's nothing that really suggested to me that Rutsu transformed into this creature. I'd test it out if I had the materials, but looking at what all it would require, I'd maybe be able to do it just once. D: - EspioKaos 13:47, 27 October 2009 (UTC)

* Few points and questions:

I remember he gets all pissy about Alteraz being defeated so easily (since it was supposed to be the COG's ultimate weapon), so I'd say he's borderline hyperventilating from shock or something. There's nothing that really suggested to me that Rutsu transformed into this creature.

Photon Points (generally abbreviated as PP) are a numerical indicator of the amount of power a weapon has left. This power is used for various Photon Arts, which are divided into three categories; Skills for Melee Weapons, Bullets for Ranged Weapons, and Techniques for Casting Weapons.

Melee Weapons
For Melee Weapons such as Sabers, Knuckles and Swords, PP is used to power special attacks which can be included in combos, known as Skills. If the amount of PP a melee weapon has left is too low to cover the cost of the Skill, the Skill cannot be used until enough PP is restored to use the attack. The weapon remains perfectly usable otherwise.

Ranged Weapons
For Ranged Weapons, including Handguns, Bows, and Machineguns, PP is used to power standard attacks; since Bullet Photon Arts are passive, usually giving a special element and status effect to a ranged weapon, and increasing their power while decreasing their accuracy. When the PP of the weapon is depleted, it cannot fire at all until PP is restored. Anybody using ranged weapons, and Rangers especially, need to be careful of PP management when firing them, and also need to bring a number of different guns so that they do not run out of PP in battle, and be forced to melee.

Casting Weapons
The Photon Arts of Casting Weapons -- Techniques -- work similar to Skills, though these weapons cannot be used for any other kinds of attacks, ruling out the ability to make combos as well. Techniques have more applications than other Photon Arts as well, and as such will be a Force's main way of attacking, supporting and healing. Thus, again, PP management is important, as is carrying multiple weapons with different sets of Techniques of them and switching between them. It is important to note that since Techniques can only be attached to casting weapons, and since these can only be used by Forces, in order to use these, Hunters and Rangers would need to have their class changed first.

Restoring PP
PP can be restored in the following ways:

* By using a Photon Charge; these can be bought from Shops, but are quite expensive. Note that if used from the palette with two single-handed weapons equipped, each weapon will receive a 50% recharge. The exception is if the left-hand weapon is an RCSM, in which case the right-hand weapon will receive a full restore. Two-handed weapons always receive a full charge from these items.
* By using a Photon Charge Cosmo; These fully restore the PP for all weapons in inventory. They drop at random from boxes in fields; However they cannot be bought except from player shops. Like the Photon Charge item, only 10 can be carried at a time and they cannot be stored in Presents.
* By using a Photon Charger; these can be found in Cities and Outposts, and may appear once or twice in certain areas during a Mission. They charge a small fee, depending on the amount off PP to be restored.
* Using the automatic regeneration function, by just wearing the weapon. More info in Weapons and Types.
* By using a striking weapon(Sword, Sabre, etc.), it is possible that if you score a critical hit some of your weapons PP will be restored (will test later for exact percentages)

On top of everything going on in each of our lives outside of Phantasy Star, we've got quite a bit on our plates as far as what needs to be done here at the PSUPedia. As such, we should try to organize everything that needs to be done here so that it won't get lost under new projects and the like. If you have any additions you'd like to make to this list, please feel free.

To-do list
General standardization
* A number of articles either need to be renamed to match the standardization set forth by the manual of style or have their entire contents reworked to match.
* Existing weapon, line shield, unit, etc. articles need to all have the proper templates put into use. Also, such articles that have not been created need to be created. (Not all information needs to be filled out immediately; that can be collected later. The important part is having the style in place so that things are easier to add.) A list of all weapon articles that either need to be created or need to be converted can be found in this article.
* Enemy articles need to be filled out with descriptions and various other data.
* Area drop templates need to be created for use in drop tables.
* Enemy spawn charts need to be converted to the new style and added to their respective mission articles.

Suggestions
If you have any suggestions for improvements to the PSUPedia, please categorize them under this heading. Also remember to sign your comments.

Offline information
* I know it's not a top priority for us, but for when we can get around to working on an offline data section, would it be possible to have it placed in a subdirectory of the site such as offline.psupedia.info? Toshimo suggested this in the original to-do list, but nothing really came of it. - EspioKaos 18:29, 9 November 2007 (CST)

Alloys and the Sort
* I've noticed, you have the drop information for alloys and such on mission pages.. However, there's no link or drop information on the pages dedicated to the alloy itself. It's tiresome to hunt down the drop info for something like Goldania, since all that page does is tell you the item's description. Would it be possible to include drop information on the dedicated pages? --Talakara 12:43, 13 April 2008 (CDT)Talakara
** Like here? There's too many missions to list on the individual pages. However the area-dropped items could get a link to the area drops page. Essen 12:54, 13 April 2008 (CDT)
***Surely, that's a good way to do it, have a link on say, the Goldania page to.. The Goldania on that area drop page, it'd work great ^ ^--Talakara 13:44, 13 April 2008 (CDT)
**** One way to do that would be to include/templatify links like Drops (which doesn't work yet because there's no references on the page in question yet), but.. even so, for a lot of the items in there (from Monomate to Psycho Wand) there's still multiple entries, so.. wouldn't it be easier to just Ctrl-F for all entries or something? Alternatively, since we're already using templates for monster drops, we could turn around the process and do them for items as well. Too much of a bother to keep updated? Then, rather than things like 'Naval drop chart' we'd need one mega-template returning relevant info by being able to filter its content based on a string parameter, and have it add (or for the other case filter) an extra column indicating monster name in case the parameter was an item (and as such the monster name would not be clear yet). Sounds daunting? Perhaps, although the hardest part would be getting the parameter-based filter system to function. In any case, I used something very similar (except using PHP-based filtering) for both PSO drops and a Pokemon type chart. Both of them still suck for not being able to 'remember' previous input in the boxes, but anyway, that part shouldn't be an issue here. - Tycho 21:51, 13 April 2008 (CDT)

Item exchange missions
* EspioKaos where editing some thing and called it standardization but there wasn't a standard for item exchange missions. I noticed that most of the item exchange missions aren't listed at the items itself. So we agreed that we would use Tear of Light's one. So allot of items from The Collector, [[Clothes 'n' Parts ♂|Clothes 'n' Parts [♂]]], [[Clothes 'n' Parts ♀|Clothes 'n' Parts [♀]]] and more need to be edited / made. --Niceone 9:27 24 november 2009(GMT+1)

Cumulative mission experience
I thought it would be a good idea if we could get a group of players to run all available missions and chronicle the total exp that they gained through said mission. I believe there are 2 values we could collect, the minimum and the maximum gained through the mission. For the minimum amount we can get a group of 2 or more players, and have 1 player hit every single monster once while for the maximum amount of a lone player destroy every monster we can then add the values collected to said missions page. Think this would be really helpful for people who are wanting to grind. If anyone wants to do this with me comment on this, or send me a message via Xbox Live, GT is DeviateRogue --DeviateRogue 04:15, 17 May 2010 (UTC)
